THE JOY OF A BIG ORGANIZING SESSION

I don’t like putting things away little by little. I prefer letting them pile up and then tackling everything at once. A bit like in Amélie, which remains my absolute reference. I love the narrator’s voice when he describes the characters’ small habits and pleasures, especially when he says that Amélie’s father enjoys emptying his toolbox, carefully cleaning it, and putting everything back in its proper place.

I can relate to that feeling so much. There is something incredibly satisfying about having a lot of things to sort through and then organizing everything: putting things back where they belong, arranging them by color, size, or category, and watching order emerge from chaos.

Here are a few photos of the result of yesterday’s organizing session.

OUTSIDE
One thing that has stayed with me from my days as a graphic designer is that I’m always much more productive when I have a deadline. It works just as well for Brocante drops as it does when I’m expecting visitors like today .

Over the past couple of days, we took the opportunity to tidy up and reorganize the studio a bit, especially the outdoor area. These are often the kind of small projects you keep putting off, but they feel incredibly satisfying once they’re done. I also took plenty of other photos that I’ll be sharing little by little.

And it was quite satisfying to see all those sign letters gathered in one place. There are lots of Ms, Rs, Cs, and Us—and, of course, plenty of Ps.

Thanks again Tracey to bring me at the studio !

HOW LUCKY HE IS

I’ve been following Christian Watson alias for many years. I’ve now been on Instagram for 14 years, and he was undoubtedly one of the very first creators who truly inspired me. I’ve always been fascinated by his work, his artistic sensitivity, and his unique ability to tell stories through images.

I even had the chance to collaborate with him a few years ago when he contributed to a page of my calendar. A memorable experience and a real privilege for someone whose work has influenced my own creative journey for so long.

To me, Christian represents the very best of what Instagram has been able to offer. He used the platform not only to share his art and build his shop, but also to respectfully share moments of his beautiful family life. At a time when many were chasing attention, he showed that authenticity, craftsmanship, and storytelling could create something far more meaningful.

Over the past few years, his presence on Instagram has evolved. He has gradually stepped aside in favor of Mr. Skelly, the little skeleton character through which he now shares his view of the world. Through humor, poetry, and reflection, Mr. Skelly has become a powerful way to explore creativity, life, time, and the human experience.

This creative shift has brought him an even larger audience, reaching millions of followers around the world. Yet the qualities that first drew me to his work remain unchanged: thoughtfulness, imagination, and a remarkable ability to inspire.

Today, I wanted to share a few of his older photographs—images created years ago that still feel as inspiring as ever. They remind me why I started following his work in the first place and why it continues to resonate so strongly today.

FOR THE LOVE OF SIGN PAINTING

I’m delighted to finally have Lettres Décoratives: A Century of French Sign Painters’ Alphabets in my hands.

This remarkable publication offers a kaleidoscopic survey of letterforms from 19th- and 20th-century France, featuring more than 150 plates from grand lithographic albums produced at the height of the sign painter’s craft. Originally created to showcase styles and inspire artists to decorate cities with increasingly colorful, adventurous, and refined letterforms, these portfolios preserve a rich visual history of urban alphabets.

This book is also the result of a wonderful collaboration. Studio had the privilege of designing the entire book and its cover for , creating a beautiful object that perfectly showcases this extraordinary collection.

The publication features a thoughtful introduction by whose passion and expertise bring additional depth to this celebration of painted letters and typographic heritage. Morgan is also currently working on a new book, now available for pre-order, which is sure to be another inspiring contribution to the world of sign painting and lettering.

A true source of inspiration for anyone passionate about sign painting, lettering, typography, and graphic design.

A COLORFUL COLLECTION

When my friend Stephen sends me a message saying, “I found you something,” I know it’s going to be special!

This is one of his best finds yet: 17 KÜB metal tin boxes, each containing a different pigment. One side of every box has been painted white, with the pigment name beautifully calligraphed on it.

I’m not sure yet whether they’ll be for sale—I still haven’t decided!

MARKET SELF-CONTROL (FOR ONCE)

Reasons I’m not going to the market this weekend:
1. It’s hot. Like, why-is-the-air-spicy hot.
2. My car and I need a little break from each other.
3. I’ve already adopted enough objects recently.
4. My studio has entered a new category somewhere between creative workspace and archaeological site.

So instead of bringing home more treasures, I’ll be attempting the wild adventure known as organizing the studio.

In the meantime, here’s a little tour of the chaos and some of my latest finds. Thanks for your help, and for the letters and boxes

ROAD TRIP TO LYON FOR SOME AMAZING FINDS

Today was a day spent on the road. I drove up near Lyon to pick up the items I had found at place and to check out Stephane’s latest finds. The car filled up pretty quickly!

On the way back, I stopped to see my friend Thibaud, who is passionate about Absinthe and bar objects and has just created a new Instagram account to share his passion at . Feel free to follow him — he’ll be posting photos very soon. In the meantime, here’s a little preview of these beautiful collectible pieces.

So, in the end: nearly eight hours on the road for a few hours with friends… and a couple of naps just to keep going.

THE COLORS OF INDIA
A little trip back to that beautiful journey in India, at the beginning of 2025.
I realized there are moments in life that truly matter. Not only the ones we live through, but the ones where we suddenly become aware that we are creating a memory we’ll carry forever.

During that trip, I could almost feel each moment settling into my memory. I knew I would come back to it often in my mind. Maybe that’s why we travel: to leave with pieces of the world in our hands — colors, scents, faces, feelings — that stay alive inside us long after we return home.

Even though I deeply love everything surrounding me here, there’s still that quiet desire for elsewhere that always comes back. So tonight, I was simply craving colors and spices.

A TIMELESS SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

has been one of my biggest inspirations on Instagram. Alwen’s collection is absolutely stunning.

Even though she hasn’t posted in years, I still check the account from time to time, hoping I may have missed something — I never really trust Instagram to show me the accounts I truly love following.

Sadly, no new photos yet, but it’s always such a pleasure to dive back into these beautiful captures. I truly hope the inspiration to create and share again will return someday.

In the meantime, here’s a small selection of some of my favorite photos.

FROM MARKET TO MOUNTAIN

No borcante yesterday since I had a sale with you, but I knew the professional market in Avignon was today, so no regrets. I found some lovely pieces, though I mostly wish I had room for all those beautiful workshop and trade furniture pieces! Maybe soon…

Then it was time to enjoy some family time and head up to the top of Mont Ventoux — so close to us, yet we’d never had the chance to do it before.
