They defied all odds and exceeded all expectations.

Necessity is the mother of invention, and behind every invention that exists today to make our lives better, is a business idea. And behind every great idea, there’s a mind that thought, planned and executed it.

In a sector that has been dominated by men for decades, these icons arrived, settled-in and conquered. They’re creative, determined, hard-working and focused. They say it’s hard to succeed in business, and even harder to be a woman and still succeed in business. But these inspiring individuals have reshaped the world into what it is today and redefined a word that was long underestimated : business-women. Between those who seized opportunities and those who created something from nothing, there is no denial that these women broke all social and societal chains and let the world know their potential.

The icons in this category are powerful reminders of what has already been accomplished and what has yet to be done. What is true is that they not only defined the business sector as a whole – they also reshaped our world today. Determination, strength and courage are the main qualities of these 21st century icons. Sport is a field that brings people together and inspires them. These athletes are now inspiring the world and are among the most powerful personalities in the world.

Even if countries in Europe and US preach for equality and political inclusion there is still a lot of work to be done to close the political gap

In developing countries, these women have risked their lives and freedom to push for women’s rights in politics

Moving away from the 20th century, where there were lesser opportunities for women in high positions of power, the 21st century brings a refreshing new perspective to the face of politics all over the world. These women have been determined to break the stereotypes and to take the centre stage in decision making in building a better world.

Although they were not taken seriously because of their age, gender, minority status or political ambition, these iconic politicians have observed the world around them and concluded that it is time to make a stand. From founding organizations to creating equal rights in education and in the workplace for women in Afghanistan and Liberia, to pushing for reproductive rights in the US, to structuring economies in Germany, these women are the trailblazers of the 21st century.

They are not afraid to say out loud what is happening in the backstages! And even if today she is alone in her category, the Icon will always need other women to carry the voice of feminism and denounce inequalities, whether in the film world, or in other the issues of today.

The urge to compete and to practice sports goes from the outset. However, the place of women in sports was not predominant or even non-existent. The 21st century has given a whole new light to women in every sport. With no doubt, the current century has witnessed the rise of remarkable women in all sport’s categories, where they didnt stop at being outstanding at the sport itself but they delivered powerful messages to all the women in the entire world. They proved that you can be an athlete , a wife, a mother, a business woman at the same time without giving away any aspect of your life . Thanks to them the new generation had idols to look up too.

The 21st century’s media highlighted their rising, their stories, the journey since the beginning and helped them show the world that women are not weak individuals that can be limited to one task in their lifetime but a human being who's able to do beyond imagination achievements, and we were lucky enough to have icons that became role models to the vast majority. 🎾🏊🏻‍♀️
