🎬Toys "R" Us is an American toy, clothing, and baby product retailer owned by Tru Kids, Inc. (d.b.a. Tru Kids Brands) and various others. The company was founded in 1957; its first store was built in April 1948, with its headquarters located in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey, in the New York metropolitan area.

📉  While originally considered a category killer, the rise of mass merchants and online retailers cost Toys "R" Us its share of the toy market and the company filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and 2018, closing all of its US, British, and Australian locations, with the last US stores closing in 2021. Operations in other international markets such as Asia and Africa were less affected, but chains in Canada, parts of Europe and Asia were eventually sold to third-parties.

🔁 In August 2021, WHP Global announced that Toys “R” Us would be opening over 400 stores within Macy's starting in 2022.

🔁  In April 2021 Segway announced ultra-futuristic Apex H2 hydrogen-powered motorcycle.

🎬 Miss Selfridge was a British high street store chain which began as the young fashion section of Selfridges department store in London in 1966.
In July 1999, Arcadia Group, which was owned by Sir Philip Green, acquired Miss Selfridge, along with Wallis and clothing retailer Outfit, from Sears plc
Miss Selfridge was one of the first retailers to use Kate Moss in their campaigns and has used other successful models and actresses such as Naomi Campbell, Yasmin le Bon, Tess Daly, Saffron Burrows and Nicollette Sheridan before they found major success.
In 2006, to celebrate its 40th year of business, Miss Selfridge relaunched limited edition make up palettes containing some of the most successful products from the "Kiss and Make Up" make up range, which is now discontinued.
In April 2010, Miss Selfridge launched the Gossip Girl Collection in which they had worked with Eric Damon, the stylist of the show Gossip Girl, to create a line of 8 dresses based on the four main female characters.

📉 Arcadia Group went into administration on 30 November 2020

🔁 On 1 February 2021, ASOS announced it had acquired the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT brands out of administration for £265 million, paying an additional £65 million for current and pre-ordered stock. ASOS will keep 300 employees on as part of the deal but will not keep any of the brand's 70 stores, putting 2,500 jobs at risk. These brands have since relaunched as Online stores within the ASOS umbrella.

🎬 Debenhams is a British online retail brand owned by the online retailer Boohoo.
The original company was founded in 1778 as a single store in London and grew to 178 locations across those countries, also owning the Danish department store chain Magasin du Nord. In its final years, its headquarters were within the premises of its flagship store in Oxford Street, London. The range of goods sold included clothing, household items, and furniture.

📉 The company suffered financial difficulties in the 21st century and entered administration twice, in April 2019 and April 2020. In November 2020, Debenhams' main concession operator Arcadia also entered administration, leading to the collapse of talks with JD Sports over a potential rescue. As a result, Debenhams announced it would be liquidated.

🔁 The Debenhams brand and website was purchased by the online retailer Boohoo for £55m in January 2021. However, Boohoo did not retain any stores, meaning the loss of up to 12,000 jobs. Boohoo relaunched the website on 12 April 2021 under their own company, Debenhams Online Limited, when Debenhams' stores reopened to begin closing down sales following a relaxation of some COVID-19 restrictions. After 243 years in business, the remaining Debenhams stores closed for the final time during May 2021.

🎬 The Rhodes piano (also known as the Fender Rhodes piano) is an electric piano invented by Harold Rhodes, which became popular in the 1970s. Like a conventional piano, the Rhodes generates sound with keys and hammers, but instead of strings, the hammers strike thin metal tines, which vibrate between an electromagnetic pickup. The signal is then sent through a cable to an external keyboard amplifier and speaker.

The instrument evolved from Rhodes's attempt to manufacture pianos while teaching recovering soldiers during World War II. Development continued after the war and into the following decade. In 1959, Fender began marketing the Piano Bass, a cut-down version; the full-size instrument did not appear until after Fender's sale to CBS in 1965. CBS oversaw mass production of the Rhodes piano in the 1970s, and it was used extensively through the decade, particularly in jazz, pop, and soul music. It was less used in the 1980s because of competition with polyphonic and digital synthesizers such as the Yamaha DX7 and an inconsistent quality control caused by cost-cutting.

📉 In 1983, Rhodes was sold to CBS boss William Schultz, who closed the main factory in 1985 and sold the business to the Japanese corporation Roland in 1987. Roland manufactured digital pianos under the Rhodes name, but Harold Rhodes disapproved of the instruments, which were made without his consultation.

In the 1990s, the instrument experienced a resurgence in popularity, resulting in Rhodes re-obtaining the rights to the piano in 1997. By then, he was in ill health and died in December 2000. In 2007, a re-formed Rhodes Music Corporation introduced a reproduction of the original electric piano, the Rhodes Mark 7, housed in a molded plastic enclosure.

🔁 In 2021, a new company, Rhodes Music Group Ltd, announced a new model, the MK8, in development.

🎬 The Mercier establishment was born at 60 rue Gutenberg, Saint-Etienne - the cradle of France’s Industrial Revolution, in 1919. Founded by Emile Mercier and his brothers Marcel and Constant, the business began by producing pins and bases for pedals. By 1924, Emile Mercier - the original - began building frames and then the full bicycle around the beginning of the 1930s.
The visionary directors associated the business with a professional team from 1933 to promote their products. The team remained in competition until 1984, making Mercier the team with the most participations in the history of the Tour de France. In order to make them easily identifiable to the spectators, the Mercier racers adopted their famous purple jersey from 1955.
Mercier cycles saw huge commercial success, with their modern techniques and demands for the highest quality at a reasonable price.
Mercier bikes populated French roads for several decades, in cities, across the countryside and at the heart of pelotons. The business saw its climax in 1975, with a production of 150,000 bicycles.

📉 During the 1980’s, faced with increasing foreign competition, from America and Asia, the French cycling industry declined inexorably and the business closed its doors definitively at the end of the decade.

🔁 In 2019, Emile Mercier, son and nephew of the founders, revived the brand to relaunch it with a line of clothes dedicated to road cycling. To lead this new chapter and maintain the historic values of the brand, Emile partnered with Alexis Descollonges to form a passionate and complementary team.
