🚀 2025 Search Is Changing — Let’s Make Sure Your Expertise Still Gets Found
Hey everyone!
If you’ve been wondering “Why am I less visible on Google lately?”
or
“Are people still clicking through to my website?”,
here’s a quick breakdown of what’s shifting and what you can do about it.
⸻
🔍 What’s going on (and why it matters)
• AI summaries are moving to the top of search results. Google’s AI Overviews now synthesize answers from multiple sources. That means users sometimes get what they need without ever clicking a result.
• For local queries, Google still cares about proximity, reputation, sentiment analysis, and whether other sources cite your content! So, just relying on structured data or Maps Pack optimization isn’t enough anymore.
• Different user intents are triggering different types of visibility:
• Informational queries (e.g. “how to start a coaching side hustle”) tend to trigger AI Overviews.
• Transactional or “near me” queries (e.g. “local business consultant near Paris”) are still more likely to trigger Google Maps Packs.
• Very few queries trigger both at once.
• Meanwhile, new platforms and tools (Perplexity, Reddit, TikTok) are becoming alternative discovery channels, especially for younger audiences. Brands that “live everywhere” are more likely to show up in AI‑driven summaries and agentic search tools.
• Another emerging trend: agentic search, where users delegate tasks to AI helpers (for example using Google’s “Call with AI” feature):
That means your business might receive calls from AI bots, not humans, and not always during regular business hours.
⸻
✅ What you can do about it
Here are a few action‑oriented but not salesy ideas you can try:
1. Create content with intent in mind:
• For informational queries, publish clear, well-structured FAQ-style content, with concise “question → answer → deeper detail” formatting. That helps AI systems cite your content more easily.
• For local or transactional intents, make sure your Google Business profile is optimized, your reviews are up to date, and your local landing pages are precise, schema-marked, and easy for machine-reading.
2. Be where your audience looks, don’t rely on Google alone:
• Share content or engage in forums, social Q&A threads, Reddit, or community-focused platforms.
• Consider short-form video, TikTok, local-focused posts, or podcast snippets that can be discovered outside of traditional search.
3. Build a distributed footprint:
• Maintain a mix of informational content and practical local resources.
• Create content that demonstrates your expertise and experience, and that is frequently cited or referenced.
This builds trust and credibility, which helps AI systems choose your content when generating their summaries.
4. Prepare for AI‑led interactions:
• Be ready for bots calling on behalf of users: make sure your phone and scheduling responses are prompt, even outside normal hours if possible.
• Provide transparent, structured pricing information and machine-readable data where possible.
This makes it easier for AI agents to assess and recommend your services.
5. Stay agile and trustworthy:
• Keep updating your content regularly, observing what kinds of questions people are asking, and adjusting your strategy as new AI‑powered search features evolve.
• Continue leaning into EEAT principles (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) to help your content remain visible, citable, and respected by both humans and machines.
