Have you got that end of year fatigue? Are you reflecting on the year gone by knowing that you should have done more to position your business BUT know at the same time how busy you've been?

It's a fact of life that running a business means you're busy. There are rarely enough hours in the day. But making time for marketing and social media is almost as important as doing your accounts. After all, if there's no sales and no pipeline, there's no accounts to do.

Here's a quick fix you can do right now to make sure 2022 gets off to a good marketing and digital start. Set aside 2 x 10 minute sessions per week NON NEGOTIABLE to stay on top of digital. Make it bearable by including a coffee and you'll see just how effective this tiny amount of time can be.

In your business - how do you make it clear that your solution is THE BEST solution for your best clients? Describing your solution with a client focus is essential to cut through online noise, get noticed and make it clear WHY people should consider choosing you. An easy way to do this is by describing your solution in benefit terms, not features. To turn a feature into a benefit, add 'which means that + an outcome' to the feature. Are you doing it? Try it. It's a clever trick.

How intimate are you with your best client's life? Odd question for a Friday morning? Not really. I speak to lots of business owners who think their offer is so fantastic that everyone should have/want it. BUT. Unless you're Coca Cola or McDonald's, it's unlikely that you have the reach or the budget to go mass market. That's why knowing exactly WHO you can best serve is paramount.  When you know this, you need to drill down on what those folks lives looks like.

You owe it to your business to know what problems they have; what their best solution looks like and what'll happen if they don't find a solution.

Knowing and putting words around this stuff is an online game changer. Why? Because when you do, you can speak consistently in a voice that resonates with your best clients and most importantly demonstrate clearly, confidently and convincingly that you can solve their problems. You do this day in and day out face-to-face. Why is online so tough? It really needn't be. Think about it.

You’re great at what you do. Underneath your modest exterior you know you are. Your clients/peers think you’re great too – you know because they tell you so.

You’d like more clients and you know your ideal/best clients hang out online.

Communicating face-to-face – one-to-one or in groups, you’re comfortable, authentic and impressive. But online there’s something standing in your way. You possibly spend time online consuming what’s on there but rarely, if ever, contribute. Shy, modest, call it what you will, getting comfy and active online just isn’t happening for you.

Why is that? Why do you keep putting mastering social media and sorting out your website to the bottom of your To Do list?

I recently invited you to join me on a mission to prove that even the busiest small business owner or startup CAN master their own marketing and get active on social with no cash 💪 46 people took up that invitation 🎉 The mission has been running for just over 2 weeks and there are some amazing things happening. Some of the people in the group have never been part of a Facebook Group before, but they're seeing what a powerful tool it can be when used for a very specific purpose🤩 Here are just 3 of the BIG WINS so far:

⁉️Have you been sitting on the fence? 🧐 Today my "mission" to prove to small business owners that they CAN master their own marketing and get active on social without a ton of time and without cash got under way 🚀 There are already 20 people in the group and I'm over the moon. I don’t know about you, but most small business owners I know don’t have cash for a marketing and/or social media consultant. They also don’t believe they have the time/skills/knowledge to do it themselves.

They know they need marketing and social so they can cast their net wider, get more clients and enjoy more success but they feel stuck.

I suspect one of the things they tell me might apply to you, which is why I want to share them.

1. They feel confused and overwhelmed. There are too many choices, so they start for a while, get burned out and stop. Or, feel so overwhelmed that they don’t even start.
2. They don’t have the time/cash so convince themselves that marketing/social can wait. But, inside they know that if they want to cast their net wider, it can’t wait.
3. The third is what I think is called imposter syndrome. I’m no psychologist, but as I understand it, it’s where they believe that they’re not good enough or that it would feel show-y off-y or cringe-worthy. Ironic, when their clients are paying them good money for being their “go to” expert.

September has well and truly arrived. What that means for us business owners is that the end of the year is going to be upon us before we know it ‼️

2020 has been a rollercoaster. I've got clients who've had their BEST YEAR EVER 💪 and clients who're just hanging on in there. There's no rhyme nor reason to either. But both extremes know that now's the time to get their marketing and social media right - either to MAINTAIN the success they've had this year or to REGAIN the success they had before.

That's why my mission is so well timed.

I'm currently (kind of) on holiday in sunny Cannes 🌴 I say "kind of" because I'm actually here getting my daughter settled for her studies. It's more lifting and shifting, cleaning and checking than holiday, but I can think of far worse places to do it 🤣

I'm also finalising the journey I'll be taking you folks on who've joined me and want to ask a couple of questions. As you know, my mission is to dispel the myth that you need to be a marketing or social media expert or have a ton of cash or time to get great results for your business.

So, here's what I want to ask you:

1. What do you (realistically) want to achieve with your marketing and social media?
