Last day of March.

Here's everything I've covered this month
on Google marketing for UK tradespeople.

Save this as your April action list. 🔖

GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE
→ Correct category (your specific trade, not "contractor")
→ Service area covering every town you work in
→ 10+ photos (van, jobs, team)
→ 2 posts per week minimum
→ 15+ reviews with responses to all of them
→ Keyword-rich description with your trade + location

GOOGLE ADS
→ Exact match keywords only
→ 80+ negative keywords
→ Dedicated landing page per service
→ Call tracking from day one
→ Ad schedule: 7am–9pm
→ Spring keyword update (seasonal search volumes)

REVIEWS
→ Ask after every completed job
→ Send your review link by text, not email
→ One follow-up if no response after 3 days
→ Respond to every review — positive and negative

THE NUMBERS TO TRACK
→ Calls received from Google (monthly)
→ Cost per call (if running ads)
→ Map pack position (check monthly)
→ Review count and rating trend

THE ONE THING THAT MATTERS MOST:

Consistency.

A tradesperson who posts twice a week,
asks for reviews consistently,
and runs a properly structured Google Ads campaign

will outperform a bigger, more established competitor
who does none of these things.

Every time.

April starts tomorrow.

If you want help setting any of this up —
the free 15-min review is still available.

Spring is here and the UK construction season
is properly underway.

Homeowners are searching for trades.
Renovation projects are starting.
Outdoor work is booking up fast.

Here's what smart tradespeople are doing
right now to capture spring demand:

✅ Updated their GBP service area before spring searches peaked
✅ Published 2 GBP posts this week mentioning spring availability
✅ Sent review requests to March customers to build their Google position
✅ Updated their Google Ads to include spring-specific keywords
✅ Set their ad schedule to match spring calling patterns (Saturday and Sunday calls increase in spring)
✅ Checked their competitors' GBP to see what's working for them

The tradespeople who do these things in March
are the ones the phone rings for in April, May and June.

The ones who wait?
They're available. They just can't be found.

If you haven't done these things yet —
this week is the right time.

One more week left in March.

If you're a UK tradesperson
and your Google presence isn't where it needs to be —

Now is the time.

April means longer days.
More homeowners making calls.
More renovations. More garden work.
More roofing. More drainage. More everything.

The tradespeople capturing that demand
are the ones Google can find.

I'm offering 3 free Google reviews

What's included:

🔍 Live Google search — your trade, your area,
your exact position right now

📋 GBP audit — the 7 factors that determine
your map pack ranking

💰 Ads review (if applicable)

📄 Written summary — 3 actions you can take
before April starts

15 minutes. No pitch. No pressure.

For:
Plumbers / Electricians / Roofers

Saturday question for UK tradespeople:

Easter weekend is coming up next month.

For most trades it's either:

A) Flat out — homeowners want jobs done
before/after the bank holiday weekend

B) Dead quiet — everyone's away
and nobody calls

C) A mix — emergency calls only

What does Easter usually look like for your trade?

Drop it below.

And while we're here —

Do you have Google Ads paused over bank holidays?

Most campaigns run 24/7 without adjustment.
But if your trade is quieter over Easter,
you're potentially burning budget on days
with much lower call rates.

One of the small things that separates
a well-managed campaign from an average one:
adjusting for bank holidays, seasonal shifts,
and your own availability.

What does Easter look like for you? ⬇️

End of March. Four weeks in.

I want to share honestly what building
this page from scratch has looked like.

Week 1:
Posted every day.
Heard nothing for 2 days.
Then the first DM: a plumber in Nottingham
asking about his GBP ranking.
Did the free audit. Took 20 minutes.
He said it was the most useful 20 minutes
he'd had with a marketing person in 3 years.

That kept me going.

Week 2:
A roofing company in Coventry commented
on the competitor ranking post.
"This is literally my situation right now."
Ended up speaking for 45 minutes.

Week 3:
Started getting shares from trades Facebook groups.
Two people I didn't know booked free reviews.
Both are now in conversations about working together.

Week 4:
You're reading this. Hello.

What I've learned:

The tradespeople who engage here are
genuinely interested in sorting their Google presence.

They've usually been burned before.
They're cautious.
They respond to honesty, not sales pitches.

So that's what I'm going to keep doing.

If you're reading this and you've been thinking
about reaching out — please do.

What you should expect from Google marketing
in spring 2026.

(If you're not seeing these numbers, something's wrong)

GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE
Monthly views: 200–800 for a mid-size UK city
Calls from GBP: 10–30 per month
Search appearances: 400–1,200 monthly
Direction requests: 20–60 monthly

If your GBP insights show much lower:
→ Your category is wrong
→ Your service area is too narrow
→ You're not posting regularly
→ You don't have enough reviews

GOOGLE ADS (for emergency/local trades)
Cost per call: £15–£35 for most UK cities
Click through rate: 8–15% for well-written trade ads
Conversion rate (click to call): 10–20%
Time to first call: 7–14 days from launch

If your cost per call is above £60:
→ Keywords are too broad
→ Negative keyword list is missing
→ Landing page isn't converting

COMBINED (GBP + Ads)
Inbound calls per month (£15–£20/day budget):
Realistic for a plumber in Leicester: 25–50 calls
Realistic for an electrician in Birmingham: 30–60 calls

These are not exceptional results.
These are what a properly built campaign delivers.

If your current numbers are significantly lower —
it's worth understanding why.

Free 15-min review. I'll look at your setup.

UK tradespeople: what's your Google story?

Did you:
A) Never set up a Google Business Profile and aren't sure where to start
B) Set one up years ago and haven't touched it since
C) Actively managing it and seeing results
D) Tried Google Ads, got burned, and have trust issues now 😅
E) Currently invisible on Google and need to fix it

Drop your letter below.

(No judgement — I have heard every version
of every option here)

I ask because every week I speak to tradespeople
at very different stages of their Google journey.

And the advice that's useful for someone at A
is completely different to someone at C.

Understanding where you are helps me
post content that's actually useful for your situation.

Drop your letter — and if you want,
tell me your trade too.

I read every single reply. ⬇️
