Please help spread the message from Culture Aberdeen]!

“Aberdeen loves culture, and we’re so proud to be at the heart of it, but our future is at risk. Aberdeen City Council have proposed catastrophic cuts to the entire cultural sector in the city.

As cultural organisations in the city, we work tirelessly to bring events and festivals, learning, connection, experiences and more to Aberdeen City and its communities. Events where we can be united in song, in dance, in awe, in laughter. Things we have missed so much through recent challenging times. We’d really like to keep inspiring our youngest, nurturing our oldest and championing an Aberdeen for us all to be proud of.

The proposed cuts will lead to job losses in Aberdeen. They will lead to the loss of opportunities for freelancers. They will lead to the loss of activities and experiences aimed at the least privileged in society. They will lead to the closure of venues and organisations. They will impoverish the city and tarnish its reputation. Aberdeen wouldn’t be the same.

We need Aberdeen City Council to understand how important culture is to you. Please join us in asking Aberdeen City Council to reject the proposed cuts to cultural organisations at their budget meeting this Wednesday, 1 March.

Please don’t allow Aberdeen City Council to cut £800,000 of the budget on our culture sector! It’ll have a devastating impact on the lives of people living here, and for those who visit!

Just a wee update on where you can find me in the run up to Christmas! 🎄❄️
Absolutely stoked to be showcasing in for ! This will be my 2nd Tea Green market, and what a fantastic line up they have in store. Check it oot!
Next up is the Christmas Open Studios. Over two consecutive weekends, myself and 22 artisans at Deemouth will be welcoming everyone into their working spaces to browse, chat and buy!

Affa excited!! I’ve only just went and got myself a wee spot in ! 😲
From the amazing Kirsty and her team from and , backed by Aberdeen City Council’s creative fund - you are all invited to browse in a one of a kind ‘No ordinary departmnt store’!
Not only will this serve as support for local talented Scottish artists and designers, but it also offers a beautifully curated space for a truly unique shopping experience.
This is the very action we so desperately need in Aberdeen right now, to breathe vibrance back into the streets and refocus the city’s identity.
Departmnt Aberdeen opens on 12th Nov until 23rd Dec. Find it on 8A Gaelic Lane (just off Belmont St).
You’re gonna love it!

Well it’s time for me to wrap up my , thanks to everyone who took the time to get to know me and what I do.
As well as keeping it fun and exciting at , I always strive to make high quality, crisp design and put proper love into every piece. I have a strong and passionate focus on sustainability and researching eco-conscious alternatives. It goes without saying that supporting small businesses is one of the most important things we can do, which is why I’m consciously seeking more local independent printers and suppliers to produce my digital work.
All in all it truly makes my work worth doing when I can make someone smile, and feel something when they pick up the products I create. It’s even more amazing when someone connects with your work on a personal level. 😌 And this is one of the main reasons why I do this!
So the next time you buy from an independent creative, know that it’s so much more than just a purchase to them. 😄

So I’m Adrian Reid - the creative person behind . I’m an illustrator and printmaker based at Deemouth Artist Studios in Torry, Aberdeen.
I specialise in creating colourful and humorous artworks that spark curiosity, allowing everyone to think, feel and smile. My creative process is fuelled and inspired by people met, stories shared, the natural world and science.
As well as vibrant screenprinted pieces, my illustrative work also translates to greetings cards, wrapping paper, pin badges and other neat things.

I’ve come to realise that I never talk about myself on social media, so how about an introduction and a small insight into what I do!

So I’m Adrian Reid - the creative person behind Orange-ade Design & Illustration. I’m an illustrator and printmaker based at in Torry, Aberdeen.

I specialise in creating colourful and humorous artworks that spark curiosity, allowing everyone to think, feel and smile. My creative process is fuelled and inspired by people met, stories shared, the natural world and science. My illustrative work also translates into greetings cards, wrapping paper, pin badges and other neat things.

As well as keeping it fun and exciting at Orange-ade, I strive to produce great, crisp design and put proper love into every piece made with a strong, passionate focus on sustainability and researching eco-conscious alternatives. I’m also a big believer in backing fellow creatives, seeing community and collaboration over ‘competition’. 🤜🤛 Together we can make all kinds of awesome!

What a week had in 2022!!

Just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to everyone who came out to to catch myself and all the other inspirational creatives, the week before last.

It truly makes my work worth doing when I can make someone smile, and feel something when they pick up the products I create. I had such wholesome conversations with people who came into my space, and some who also connected with my creative processes and shared knowledge about their own. 😌

And ofcourse thank you to all who made purchases! 😁 It goes without saying that supporting small businesses is so very important, and you make massive difference with every item bought, every piece of feedback given, every shout out you make over social media. All these gestures, big or small, they ALL count!

So bring on the next DAS open studios weekend events - 26th & 27th Nov and 4th & 5th Dec! It’s gonna be AWESOME 😁

Feeling all the love from the weekend. A massive thank you to everyone who ventured out to browse, buy and chat with us all here in , it makes my day people have a genuine interest in what I do and the positive connections you can make (I think I speak for everyone here when I say this).
