In 2026, customers are more sceptical than ever. Trust signals are what convince them to choose YOU.
The trust signals that actually work:
⭐ Real customer testimonials (with names and photos)
⭐ Genuine star ratings (Google, Trustpilot)
⭐ Industry certifications and qualifications
⭐ Years in business or 'established 20XX'
⭐ Visible contact info and location
⭐ Real team photos (not stock)
⭐ Recent case studies with measurable results
⭐ Press mentions or awards
⭐ Trade body memberships
⭐ Insurance and accreditation badges
Don't have these? Add them. Have them but they're hidden? Move them up.
Trust converts. Lack of trust loses customers.

Did you know your website has a carbon footprint?
Every page load uses energy. Bloated, slow sites use more. Lightweight, optimised sites use less.
Green web design principles:
🌱 Efficient code (less is more)
🌱 Optimised images (WebP, AVIF formats)
🌱 Minimal plugins
🌱 UK-based green hosting
🌱 Lazy loading (only loads what's visible)
🌱 Smaller file sizes overall
Bonus: lighter websites also load faster, rank better on Google, and cost less to host. Sustainability and performance go hand in hand.
A well-built site is a green site.

Most businesses obsess over getting MORE traffic. The smart ones obsess over CONVERTING the traffic they already have.
This is called Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO). And it often delivers bigger wins than SEO.
Quick wins for most websites:
📈 Move your phone number into the header
📈 Reduce form fields (5 max for most forms)
📈 Add testimonials near calls-to-action
📈 Make CTAs specific ("Book your free audit" not "Submit")
📈 Show prices or pricing ranges if you can
📈 Add scarcity/urgency where genuine
📈 Test heatmaps to see where people actually click
Often a 1% improvement in conversion delivers more revenue than doubling your traffic.

Web accessibility isn't just a nice-to-have anymore. In 2026, it's both a legal expectation and a competitive advantage.

WCAG 2.2 is now the baseline standard. Here's what that means in practice:
♿ Sufficient colour contrast (text against background)
♿ Alternative text on every image
♿ Keyboard-navigable (works without a mouse)
♿ Screen-reader compatible
♿ Captions on videos
♿ No content reliant on flashing or animation alone
♿ Forms with clear, accessible labels
Beyond legal compliance, accessibility helps EVERYONE — including users on phones, in bright sunlight, or in noisy environments.
We build accessibility in from day one.

Heard of bento grids? They're the dominant web design layout in 2026 and for good reason.
Named after Japanese lunchboxes, bento grids organise content into different-sized rectangles. Why they work:

🎨 Visually interesting (more than rigid columns)
🎨 Mobile-friendly (rectangles stack naturally)
🎨 Showcase varied content (testimonials, services, stats)
🎨 Feel modern without being gimmicky
🎨 Easy to scan and digest
Other 2026 trends we're watching:
✨ Asymmetrical layouts
✨ Typography-led design (less imagery)
✨ "Minimalist-warm" — clean but human
✨ Dark mode support
✨ Micro-interactions on hover
Trends matter- but only if they actually serve your customers.

The mistakes we see on websites every week — most are easy to fix:

⚠️ No phone number visible above the fold
⚠️ Contact info hidden on a separate "Contact Us" page
⚠️ Stock photos of fake "team members"
⚠️ Copy focused on "we are amazing" instead of "we'll help you"
⚠️ No mention of where they're based or what areas they serve
⚠️ "Welcome to our website" as a headline (it's 2026, not 2002)
⚠️ Auto-playing videos with sound (instant back button)
⚠️ Pop-ups firing before someone's even read the page
⚠️ Images that take 10 seconds to load on a phone
⚠️ Copyright year that says "© 2022" (signals an unmaintained site)

Take five minutes today. Open your website on your phone. Check it against this list. You'll likely spot a few that need fixing.

If you'd like an honest review of your site, drop us a message — we're happy to take a look.

If you're evaluating web design agencies, three specific questions will tell you more than any sales pitch:
First: Will I own my website outright when the project is complete?
The answer should be yes — you should own the design, content, codebase, and domain. Agencies that build on proprietary platforms or hold ownership rights are creating future leverage over you.

Second: Can I update content myself, or do I need to pay for every change?
A modern WordPress website should allow you to update text, photos, news, and most other content independently after appropriate training. If you're being told you'll need to pay for every change, you're being set up for ongoing dependency.

Third: What happens if I want to leave?
A confident agency will commit to handing over all files, hosting access, and credentials without friction. Defensive answers, vague terms are warning signs.

These three questions will rapidly filter agencies that operate transparently from those whose business model depends on client lock-in.
