I’ve been lucky. I’ve worked hard. But I’ve had a lot of fun too! Putting practical jokes aside, which just embarrass people, today reminds me that play, (I mean real fun) is soooooo important.
I’m watching the Severance series, and it’s a perfect (if exaggerated) reminder of how not to do it — the “fun” they’re served-up, like the Waffle Party, is so absurdly sterile and meaningless — entertainment that's entirely stripped of joy.
Real fun, the kind that actually energises and connects people, can’t be forced — and definitely can’t be scheduled into 15 minutes with fluorescent lighting. Are we forgetting how important play is?
