You can do it though. I promise.

😂📱 ‘Meme Marketing’ – A potential minefield

Being someone who heavily identifies with the older end of the GenZ crowd, I’ve noticed as ‘memes’ have become more and more commonplace in communications and advertising.

In my opinion, they’re a humorous way of engaging people with your content, especially on social media platforms like Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook.

But they have to be created with a sense of caution, as I’ve discovered over the last week.

Your interpretation on the meaning of a certain meme format may vary wildly from someone else’s. There are a lot of factors at play; sense of humour, generational gaps, cultural background. In instances like these, I think it is important to directly tell people what you mean when you post something that could be considered ‘meme marketing’.

Be direct. For the people that take a meme in the same humour and tone as you do, a disclaimer is likely not required – but for those on a different wavelength, providing clarity and an understanding of your own tone in the description caption, or in the comments, is a worthwhile endeavour so that your marketing efforts aren’t misinterpreted!

🔑♿ Accessibility is Key

A sometimes-overlooked element of website design or social media management is accessibility. The ability for people with disabilities, either hidden or otherwise, to access your content on an even footing with those people who do not.

Inaccessible content all but ensures that a larger segment of your audience than you might first expect are unable to engage with what you’ve produced.

With Auld Brig Marketing, we do our best to ensure that everything that we create is accessible as possible to your audience. Be it using sans serif to ensure that those with dyslexia can take in information more easily, or use of alt-texting the images on your site.

We’ve got you covered.

🌉💿 Bridging the Digital Divide: Empowering Individuals with Digital Skills

In our modern marketplace, the digital divide refers to a gap between those who have the skills to access to digital technologies and the internet and don’t.

In my experience, on of the most important things for any organisation seeking to expand its reach online is digital literacy – the ability to use increasingly streamlined and increasingly easy-to-use tools to meet your marketing objectives.

There is a tired old anecdote about teaching people to fish, and while it’s a trope that’s extremely played out, I feel that it’s especially relevant to digital marketing.

In a world where new concepts and challenges are springing up every day – AI, automation, algorithms, and segmentation – your organisation deserves to have the skills to keep up.

My time in working on a wide variety of IT and computer related projects, as well as my experience in marketing make me the ideal candidate to show you the way, and guide you and your business towards lifelong skills that will add real value to your marketing efforts.

🎥📱 Short Form Video and Personalised Marketing: Perfect Partners?

In an age dominated by social media giants, we see an increasing focus shift to what is known as short form video.

Even if you’ve never heard this term, I’m sure you’re familiar with the concept. Scrolling mindlessly through the plethora of platforms that offer this form of media; from Tiktok, to Youtube Shorts, Instagram reels, and everything emergent in between.

While there are a lot of arguments to be made about how this form of media affects our attention spans and productivity, there is no denying that they are extremely popular and easy to consume.

In order to capitalise on this, Auld Brig Marketing is starting up its own Tiktok account to document the work that we do on a day-to-day basis.

I will attempt to document and showcase the trials and triumphs of running a small marketing business in 2023, show off some of the work that I do, and the processes that I use to deliver projects both for myself, and my clients.

📈💾 The Advantages of Combining Creativity and Data

The simple fact of the matter is that conducting campaigns and producing content that hasn’t been fact-checked against your client demographics will only be successful based on one factor:

Luck 🍀

In our current economic climate, you need to be sure that the creative marketing endeavours that you’re pursuing are going to have the impact that you desire them to.

In a world where we’re all feeling the cost-of-living and cost-of-business related pinch, your organisation deserves better than to throw the kitchen sink at the wall and pray that it sticks.

Auld Brig Marketing have extensive experience in sifting through political demographics data as part of my volunteer work in political operations, and as part of my degree in Politics & International Relations.

Couple that with my experiences of marketing in the software development and pharmaceutical industry and you have a creative and passionate individual that can lead a data-driven transformation of your marketing processes.

Hi all!

You might have noticed that our social media presence has lay dormant for a little while. This is, unfortunately owing to poor health on my part.

However, I'm extremely excited to be re-launching our social media presence over the coming few weeks.

To celebrate, I would ask our followers to reflect on the same three questions I put to the fine folks at the Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce hub club meeting yesterday.

1. How effective is your ability to collect data?

2. Have you meaningfully segmented your potential client or customer base?

3. Are you providing content that is suitable for the different groups that you've segmented?

Falling short of even one of these criterion can mean that your enterprise might be wandering blind.

If that is you, let's see what we can accomplish together to ensure that your marketing is driven by the data, instead of hopes, prayers, and raw creativity.

To arrange your free one-hour consultation, please feel free to message me here on Facebook, fill in the form on our website (auldbrigmarketing.co.uk), or send me an email at [email protected].
