Hilarious… I just tried to do a “five things about me” post but I like sharing too much and suddenly wanted to tell you a gazillion things!

• My childhood love was my dog Benson
• I grew up near the River Humber in a village called North Cave
• I love kitsch and it definitely slips into my life sometimes
• I genuinely feel sad when people worry too much about what they look like
• I used to walk Benson down a lane called Mires Lane and once had to outrun a combine harvester because the farmer couldn’t see us (turns out I’m fast when needed)
• When we moved to Hessle it felt slightly less dangerous… then it was just the sinking mud at Hessle foreshore to contend with
• I spent 365 days travelling the world 🌍 with my sister
• 11 yrs later phil and I moved to NZ, we had fun but it was before smart phones and organising calls with loved ones via Skype tipped us over the edge
• I’d love my own horse one day
• I love people’s stories, I think it’s why I love taking pictures - capturing and recording
• I also have to try very hard not to eat crisps every day
• If I lived in France I’d 100% have a green Citroën 2CV (like my Mum did).
• But seeing as I’m currently in the North West UK, a vintage VW Karmann Ghia is staying top of the dream list…

Anyway… I could go on and on but it’s bedtime.

If you’re still reading, well done 😂
Sleep well 😴

Love it when I get to combine two of my favourite things… horses and creativity ✨

Here’s Josh hard at work. What an art shoeing a horse really is. You train for four years to become a farrier, which honestly doesn’t surprise me now I’ve seen the skill, strength and patience involved.

It’s definitely more of a lifestyle than just a job. Early mornings, long days and looking after your own body too… yes, Josh sees a physio every fortnight 😅

Physio’s you should do a Farrier loyalty card?!

You know when you get asked if you’d like to be interviewed for the The Sunday Times…
and you completely forget that means having your photo taken? 😅

Well. Here we are.

Proof I’ll go to any extreme for a family portrait.

But honestly, what a lovely excuse to shout about Altrincham, just named one of the best places to live in the North West. We moved here in 2017 and it still feels like we landed on our feet.

It’s the mix for me. Proper community, brilliant people, and countryside right on the doorstep when you need a breather.

Not a bad place to call home really. 💚 🏡

I was told I wasn’t very good at tennis when I was at primary school…
so I just thought oh right, I don’t get to do that then… and decided it wasn’t for me.

Mad how that works isn’t it?

One comment… and we carry it around for years like it’s fact.

Anyway.
It seems as everyone else in my family loves it that inevitably I end up on a court with Phil and Aubs, my aim (literally) is to get the ball over the net and honestly… loving it.

Am I good?
Absolutely not 😂
Do I care?
Also no.

And it got me thinking…

This is exactly what happens when people step in front of my camera.

“I’m awkward”
“I hate having my photo taken”
“I’m not photogenic”

Says who?

Because what I see… every single time…
is someone who just needed a bit of reassurance and a safe space to be themselves.

No pressure.
No pretending.
No weird posing.

Just you… as you are.

So maybe it’s not about being “good” at something.

Maybe it’s about deciding those old voices don’t get to stop us doing things.

I’d love to know if you still have a memory of being told you were rubbish at something?
My music teacher used to get me to mime the recorder 🙈

Happy Easter my lovelies. I think it may just be M&A s first Easter without any 🍫 eggs and not on a camping trip. Happy/sad.. missing our Easter gang and annual fun. But boy am I grateful for some vitamin D. Until tomorrow 🌧️

The last 6 weeks have been bonkers. Honestly the busiest I’ve ever been. But it’s felt different this time. Normally I’d be right on the edge of overwhelm.

Thanks to Litsa

Instead I’ve been figuring out what actually works for me and it’s made such a difference.

I’ve realised I prefer the smaller networking events where you can actually talk. And I’ve been leaning on new systems that give my brain some breathing space. My Trello board is keeping me from forgetting everything. It means I can prioritise properly and let the creativity flourish instead of constantly firefighting.

September started with my first exhibition. Personal, nerve-racking, but incredible to see so many people show up, including faces from years ago. It was a moment I’ll never forget, ever.

The week after was a relaxed networking event at West Beverly. Knows how to help people connect and kept this networking event small. I felt safe, and let’s face it - if you feel like that you don’t know you’re networking do you?

Then event photography and headshots at away day, a room full of inspiring women.

The next week I ran my first mini shoot day. A gorgeous house, brilliant people, everywhere I turned was another backdrop.

Then came a Manchester United shoot. It’s an opportunity for me to hire big lights and geek out with lighting whilst trying to help the players feel comfortable in front of the camera. We are all just people - right?!

Somewhere in all this I managed some corporate head shots and a trip to Leeds to do some still life photography of some beautiful and very cool pottery - I think we both felt like we’d done a million squats by the end of the day! Then launched my Canva 1:1s and even kept up with life admin. The clothes washing has gone to s h I t - but hey, I think I’d fall of my chair if that was under control too!!

So my big lesson over the past couple of months… ask for the help and support and keep trying until it feels right. Also, don’t let those little gems of inspiration pass you by - they remind me of dandelion clocks… 🧚 💫 💕
