Happy June! ☀️

This post nearly didn't happen because I genuinely refuse to believe it's June already. May absolutely flew by.

As always now, Cole is here for the monthly update. Did he look at the camera? Absolutely not. I'm lucky if he does! But he did sit nicely in front of some beautiful late spring flowers, so we're calling that a win. 🌸

May was packed with good things. I attended the Northern Marketing Festival (which was fantastic), delivered training at a local college, had so. many. meetings. and managed to enjoy both Bank Holiday weekends without checking my emails every five minutes.

But now we're heading into busy season.

This is the time of year where I'm helping clients get ahead with their summer content so they can actually enjoy a break rather than suddenly remembering they haven't posted in three weeks while sitting by a pool somewhere. 😅

We'll be refreshing strategies, adapting to changing priorities and making sure content stays relevant, useful and, importantly, doesn't become repetitive.

The good news is I still have some availability to help with yours too!

Whether that's a Power Hour to get the ideas flowing, a strategy refresh or training for your team on what's actually working on social media right now, I'd love to help.

And one final thing...

I'll be at the Tameside Means Business Expo on 11th June with something BRAND NEW joining the Digital Flamingo family of social media support. It's been a long time in the making and I'm very excited to finally share it with the world. 👀

Here's to a successful start to the summer for us all, plenty of sunshine and another month of me using these updates as an excuse to show everyone photos of my dog. 😆

Well…this (understandably) got people talking today. 👀

Meta has officially announced new subscription plans and features across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI under the new “Meta One” umbrella - including additional analytics, profile tools, AI features and business/creator-focused options.

Before everyone starts panicking: No, Instagram and Facebook are NOT becoming fully paid to use.

A lot of these features are still in testing, some are only rolling out in selected countries first, and there are still plenty of questions around what will actually become genuinely useful long-term.

Meta is investing HEAVILY into AI right now, and subscriptions seem to be a big part of funding that expansion moving forward.

Social media changes fast enough without the dramatic headlines, so I’ll keep breaking updates like this down in plain English as they happen!

Quick question for the business owners here: what's your biggest social media frustration right now? Is it finding time to post? Coming up with ideas? Keeping up with what actually works?

I'd love to know what's tripping you up at the moment!

The internet keeps telling me healthy habits involve waking up at 5am, drinking something green and running up a mountain before breakfast.

Meanwhile, my social media healthy habits involve not refreshing insights all the time, unfollowing accounts that annoy me and remembering that not every trend is my trend.

Much more achievable, if you ask me. 😁

Your monthly reminder that content gets significantly less stressful when you’re not trying to think of everything on the day you need to post it. 😅

June is full of opportunities for seasonal content, conversations, campaigns and relatable little moments your audience will actually connect with - so here are some key dates, themes and inspiration to help spark ideas this month.

Steal them, adapt them, make them your own. That’s what they’re here for! And if you need a little extra help along the way, I'm here for that too!

Happy summer content planning!

My brain is FULL in the best possible way after yesterday’s Northern Marketing Festival. 😅

It's really refreshing spending a day surrounded by people talking openly about how marketing, search and digital behaviour are changing in real time.

A few highlights for me:
- Jess Atkinson kicked things off brilliantly by reframing the zero-click conversation perfectly. "This is not an SEO problem. It's an attention problem." Sitting with that one.

- A brilliant celebration of bad briefs and why getting that right at the start saves everyone time, money and a lot of headaches down the line.

- Uber talking about designing for the 'now' economy - and yes, there were tips on getting those ratings up too. 😅

- Two sessions on aligning Digital PR, SEO and GEO amd "commectinf the dots" for growth that I'm already pulling apart for client work and my own visibility strategy!

- And two keynotes that genuinely delivered. Elle Barker on how PG Tips brought back Creativi-TEA and harnessed nostalgia brilliantly. And Rebecca Lott from Co-Op Live on the impact the arena is having on Manchester (in more ways than you would initially think!). She mentioned how fans invest more when they feel included. That last one hit close to home - it was literally what my MPhil research was about over ten years ago. Some things don't change. They just become more true!

I came away with loads of ideas, lots of reassurance that I’m delivering current best practices in my own work, and approximately 30 tabs open in my brain that I now need to process. (That's in addition to the 17 that were already open 😆).

Huge thank you to Prolific North for putting together such a brilliant event. One of those days that absolutely flew by, and I'm already looking forward to next year!

If you put your phone down feeling a bit meh after scrolling - that's your sign!

It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and whilst social media gets a lot of stick, I genuinely believe it can be a brilliant place to be. Connection, creativity, community, content that makes you laugh out loud at your phone like a weirdo in public.

BUT only if your feed is actually working for you.

So consider this your permission slip for a little spring clean. Unfollow, mute, curate. No guilt, no explanation needed.

Swipe through for a few things worth thinking about!

Hello May! 👋

April felt full in the best way. A mix of getting things over the line, showing up in new spaces and quietly ticking off some big moments behind the scenes!

The new website is finally live (which has been a long time coming), and it’s already been so nice seeing people actually use it and find what they need a bit more easily.

There were some brilliant events too. From Tameside Women in Business to the GM Creative Industries Exchange (and even "Speed Hobbying", which was as fun as it sounds), it’s been a reminder of how valuable it is to step away from the screen and be in the room with people.

And I’ve wrapped up teaching for the academic year, which always feels like a bit of a milestone. A chance to pause, reflect and reset before everything picks up again in September.

May, on the other hand, feels a little different. A bit quieter, a bit more of a reset month. I’ve got things coming up like planning for Tameside Female Entrepreneurs in June and the Northern Marketing Festival here in Manchester, but I’m also hoping to take advantage of those bank holidays and carve out a bit more rest where I can.

If I’m honest, I’m also using this time to plan what’s next! 👀

So, I’d love to know - what would you find most useful from me over the next couple of months? More workshops? Different topics? Something new entirely?

For now, here’s to a clearer focus and making May work in a way that actually feels manageable. 🙌

A new month ahead, and a fresh chance to show up with a bit more clarity. 🌷

May can feel like a bit of an in-between. Not quite spring, not quite summer, but full of small moments, shifts in routine and things starting to take shape. The kind of things that are easy to overlook, but actually make for some of the most relatable content.

You don’t need big campaigns or constant ideas. Most of what you could be posting about is already happening around you. It’s just about recognising it, shaping it, and sharing it in a way that connects.

If you’ve been feeling a bit stuck, overthinking it, or unsure where to focus, use this as your nudge to keep things simple and intentional this month.

Save it, come back to it and take what you need from it.

And if you want a bit more direction or someone to help you map it all out properly, just drop me a message! We can work together to bring your content to life in May! 🌸

Which day/s are you looking forward to the most?
