As the person who has been undertaking a number of the conversations with the various partners we have for Unlock The Future Conference I can safely say that moving the conference to April 2nd is THE BEST DECISION we could have made.

Why?

I have never seen such engagement from speakers, delegates and sponsors/partners in my entire career and the conversation that has been generated so far has been truly transformative in terms of bringing to the light the huge topics that needs to be addressed at this conference.

Some topics that are hot off the press include :

Repurposing Space- In the face of declining traditional retail and changes in work habits post-pandemic, there’s a significant need for property managers to rethink how space is utilised to maximise revenue, value and relevance. HOW?

Innovative Financial Models- new financial strategies and models that can support sustainable development and make property investments more profitable and risk-resilient. HOW?

What does Safe and Secure mean to you?- Delving into technology, legislation existing and new to discuss what safe and secure is going to mean in the coming 12/18 months and beyond.

If you are in the property and facilities management arena you HAVE to be part of this conversation in order to help shape it for the future.

Curries in Newcastle with old friends and colleagues 😃

A huge thank you to the amazing team Metrocentre for having me join them last week shadowing their customer service and security teams on behalf of my client Over-C.

Back in my old intu days, I worked with the wonderful Gavin Prior, Helen Atkinson and Sarah Dover, and it was an amazing opportunity to reminisce whilst chatting all things Over-C over a delicious curry and lots of giggles. Michael Elliott, thanks for the dinner, I’d travel 267 miles anytime for that delicious food! Geoff Grateley, lovely to see you too, as always!

Thank you for the trip down memory lane gang and, importantly, lot of fantastic content I can use for Over-C to show just what an amazing difference it’s making to the team on the malls.

I'm looking forward to round 2 for our next night on the toon

More on my adventures in the North East soon.. watch this space

Absolutely epic night at the last Wednesday!

The desserts were on fire as were the awards.

I got to meet some new people and then hugged hundreds of people I haven’t seen for ages after being in this industry for a rather long time!

Geoff Grateley we always take a cheeky selfie together and we may have met back in the day at Capital Shopping Centres / intu but we have been working together on various projects since we both started our own businesses and I’m very grateful to you!

Michael Elliott, my lovely client, and I finally got a cheeky selfie after the awards just so he can get me to stop complaining at him he doesn’t take any photos when he’s out and about. (Till next week, of course 👀)

A huge congratulations to some of my favourite people like Julie Kervadec for your marketing manager of the year award and to the amazing Susan Young on your shortlist. You did great.

Dave Pearman, it's always a pleasure seeing you, selfie next time. Be warned.

Rachael M. and Chloe Keith lovely seeing you too, team Marketing Committee in all the sparkles!

All in all, it was a fabulous night and a huge thank you to the team for inviting me and for making me so welcome. I loved getting to know you all and looking forward to this journey together.

😊

We need you to tag in people who are targeting clients in the property and facilities management sector!

LinkedIn, we have a couple of opportunities left for businesses looking to target people in the FM and PM sectors building their pipeline for early 2025 and we would love your help.

I am on the committee for the Unlock The Future Conference and we have the opportunity for a couple of businesses to connect with over 300 industry leaders at the iconic Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work by partnering with us.

This is your chance to amplify your brand visibility and forge valuable partnerships in the facilities management and property sectors and we want you or your colleagues to spread the word.

What’s in it for you?

Targeted Exposure: Showcase your services to a curated audience of decision-makers.

Lead Generation: Engage directly with potential clients.

Brand Enhancement: Align your brand with a premier industry event and increase your market presence.

Don’t let this chance slip by, businesses like Anchor Group Services and Pareto Facilities Management Ltd have already become partners, only a few more remaining opportunities!

Tag businesses and contacts who are looking to grow their client base in 2025 or DM me for further details.

Posting on the move because it’s the summer holidays, BUT I had to share this!

I had such a great call last week with Rachel McEntee MSc regarding supporting the Unlock The Future Conference and one of the things she mentioned was how refreshing it was to see marketing involved in the conference so early on because we can pull out the gems from the sponsors, partners and attendees from the beginning to make it more valuable for all.

It got me thinking just how misunderstood the ‘marketing function’ is sometimes and how critical it is to the success of the event or campaign to involve us early.

By having conversations with the sponsors of this conference, we ask them what THEY want out of the day, not just what they can provide.

We are also speaking to our speakers and presenters.

That then leads us on to valuable conversations which spark ideas for content and helps us shape other conversations around the conference but it also helps spark connections with people, services and it is so much more than ‘marketing’ in the traditional sense.

If you have a marketing manager or agency, get them involved in your sales convos, your event discussions etc early …we have so much we can bring to the table you just have let us!

Thanks to Rachel for the reminder.

INSTA >>> REALITY

Team .marketing at the annual Astonbury Festival for 3rd year running.

Here we are- Bevan Givens and Taylor Rae Jones embracing festival life with our kids, dogs and friends last weekend at the local town festival.

Team offbeat pride ourselves in having family as the core of our business which is why we make sure we get together with as many team members as possible regularly.

Our kids all get on great (unless there is an argument over Prime or a princess dress 👗)

The pets…sometimes 🐹🐶🐈😅

We also have lots of mutual friends who come along for the ride too.

The point is that our business only works because we know at the core for each of our team members whether it is a fur baby, their partner or their kids…they are their why and they become ours too.

Photos just for fun feel free to caption, although Taylor is a selfie queen and looks fabulous in all of them 😂

Why I have been on the marketing committee for nearly 12 years.

Yep, it is a LONG TIME guys. You wouldn't think so as I look so young eh? 😏

One of the huge benefits of Revo and why I have been a committee member in one way shape or form is because the company representatives from within each committee on the outside may be technically 'competitors' or swimming in the same pool but every month when we get together we share insights, ideas, collaborate and volunteer to help support REVO in shaping the industry.

Yesterday we have some amazing insights by Tim Cornford on Social Impact Strategy at Ellandi is now part of NewRiver REIT plc which all of us took a huge amount from in terms of measurement and benchmarking what is happening across the UK in terms of social impact and social value.

We talked about some of the things our teams are providing to shopping centres, landlords, facilities and property management teams on the ground dealing with riots and other turbulence happening right now and all offered to share what we were doing if it could help.

We recently released a piece on planning for Christmas and talked about upcoming items we are preparing for REVO members from support on navigating databases to getting the most out of your agency.

I love working with this committee and thank you guys for all the time you put in to making it work.

We use AI and Zoom to allow us to work from anywhere.

I’m currently in the highlands on a business trip but I want to ensure I get some personal time in too now I’m back in my homeland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

AI note taker on saving me hours a week of admin typing up my meetings, sending them to the team, giving everyone actions ..it’s all done for me. 💪🏻

Zoom on my phone, laptop and and wireless headphones have allowed me to work seamlessly from the hotel and have meetings with clients this morning. 💻

I did a lovely big walk with the dog around Ben Nevis (climbed it before) to see some gorgeous waterfalls and this afternoon grabbing some time around a Loch letting the dog run around. 🐶

The benefits of working with a remote team is that everything is still ticking over, client jobs being ticked off and we still get to enjoy the places we visit.

Happy Monday!

Did I mention I train? 🤣 Of course I did! But why?

Picture this: a new mum, post C-section, eager to get stronger for her little one. 💪

Back to the corporate job full-time, I found the only time I had for fitness was a weekly session with an amazing PT. That was my golden hour! ✨

Working out at home with my daughter around, I realised there must be other mums out there juggling jobs and kids, squeezing in exercise whenever they could. So, I took a leap and got my fitness qualifications.

Fast forward to 5:45 AM Zoom sessions, three times a week, training incredible ladies who sought accountability, friendship, and support, just like me. I loved every minute of it.

Fitness isn't just a hobby; it's a fundamental part of who I am, and it reflects in my professional life, too. When you work with me, whether for fitness or marketing, you get someone who:

🔥 Won't stop until you achieve your goals
🔥 Is super motivating and supportive
🔥 Can multitask like a pro
🔥 Helps you crush your marketing goals while making you squat! 😂

Balancing a career, motherhood, and fitness coaching taught me resilience, dedication, and the power of a supportive community. And that’s exactly what I bring to the table with offbeat marketing ltd

🌟 A Day at Friars Square Shopping Centre, Aylesbury.. Why service providers choose us!🌟

I'm thrilled to share some highlights from our recent photoshoot at (thanks MARGIESON and your amazing team for the support) for Building Design and Management's updated brand positioning. Being on-site was an incredible experience, and the results truly speak for themselves. Stephanie Calleja-Gera ABIPP the legend was behind the lens and produced these amazing shots.

Here’s why this work is so important:

1. Deep Industry Knowledge: Having worked in the shopping centre industry for years, I know the unique challenges and opportunities it presents. Capturing the essence of BDM’s services within this environment was key to making their brand resonate within the desired retail market.

2. Established Connections: Our relationships with key players in the industry allowed us to navigate this project smoothly, ensuring we captured exactly what was needed to elevate BDM’s brand to show how amazing these guys are at what they do.

3. Tailored Approach: Every project is unique, and this photoshoot was no exception. We focused on showcasing BDM’s strengths in a way that aligns perfectly with the dynamics of a high footfall, a difficult to access environment, which is their speciality.

4. Real Results: Seeing the final images and the impact they had on BDM's brand was incredibly rewarding. It’s a great reminder of why I love what I do.

Being on-site and witnessing the blend of creativity and strategy came together was a highlight for me. It’s moments like these that reaffirm my passion for the shopping centre world and the work we do at offbeat marketing Ltd.

📸 Take a look at some of the standout moments from the day. I’m excited about what we’ve achieved and looking forward to working on more things like this!

Real-Time Engagement can drive customer spend by 76% and support your female audience!

I promised to deliver insights from - Shopping Centres with social media take note 😊 - especially those with a higher female demographic skew.

At the Digital Marketing World Forum, it was highlighted that customers spend up to 76% more when brands respond swiftly on social media. The exact stats I saw were from Arwen which said "Customers spend 40% more when brands respond on socials,76% more if its under an hour" PLUS "Women are the most positive social media users, but receive the most toxicity".

Mix that with the stats I saw earlier this year that 81% of shoppers prefer to find out what is happening at their local centres from Insta/Facebook.

Add in the fact that most shopping centres see more female shoppers then we can come to the idea that it is pretty important when you are in charge of shopping centre social media accounts to get a few things right:

1. Understand your audience and the brands which get the most positive and negative sentiment on social media and react accordingly.

2. Timing is crucial- finding a way to create a swift response rate is key to driving spend (yey) but equally to mitigate any potential negativity your core customers may suffer as the result of not spotting something quickly.

3. Having a clear crisis comms plan for social media is everything

4. Engage, Engage, Engage- find a way to reply back to your shoppers and spot the key trends in things they ask you. You might end up with some really interesting insights.

There are plenty more but this is just one thing that got me thinking last week at the conference.. would love to know your thoughts!
