Most companies talk about supporting families.

KVA was built around them.

Single parents. Carers. People doing the school run at 8:30 and jumping into a meeting at 9. People whose lives don’t fit neatly into a Monday-to-Friday routine - and shouldn’t have to.

The flexibility here was never a perk added later. It’s always been part of how we work.

International Day of Families felt like a good moment to recognise that. Because the people who built KVA are the same people KVA was built for.

KVA is on a mission to move to a 4-day week.

Because we believe people do their best work when they have space to actually be human beings outside of it.

The moments that remind you why you do any of this – a Friday afternoon school pickup, a long lunch, a walk that has nowhere to be – none of these moments are a distraction from the work. They’re the reason for it.

And any culture that has forgotten that has lost something it urgently needs to find again.

This quarter, our team meeting was at followed by dinner and drinks at and an overnight hotel break in London.

When we all work remotely with a team from all over the place, it's so important for us to take this time and come together.

Some briefs stay with you long after you have delivered them. This was one of those.

We were invited to take part in the PM Society’s Creativity for Good initiative, supporting You Okay, Doc?, a charity founded after the tragic loss of Dr Liz Sizer, a consultant anaesthetist who died following mental health struggles at work.

This is not a campaign. This is real life. Real people. And a profession carrying a level of pressure most of us will never fully understand.

At KVA, many of our own families work in healthcare, so this felt personal from the outset.

We kept coming back to one simple truth. When people cannot say how they feel, they write it down.

So we asked healthcare professionals to handwrite a single sentence about resilience and the importance of asking, “Are you okay?”, and used those submissions to form a portrait of Dr Liz.

From a distance, you see her face. Up close, you see hundreds of individual voices layered together.

We then built a living typeface from that handwriting, one that continues to evolve as more people contribute.

There is also a QR code within the artwork so you can hear directly from the KVA team behind it.

We made a donation to support the charity, but more importantly, we hope this keeps an important conversation going.

If you take one thing from this, let it be the question at the centre of it all.

💫 We did not build KVA for awards. We built it to create a workplace where people are treated properly.
So being named a finalist at the Inspiring Workplaces Awards feels incredibly special for a different reason. From the very beginning, our belief has been simple. Put people first and performance will follow. That is not always how business is done. But it is how we have chosen to do it.
We have built a culture based on trust, flexibility and treating people like adults. A place where people can grow, speak up and be themselves without fear.
And to now be recognised alongside companies like Lloyds Bank, Qatar Airways and Aldi shows that this way of leading really does matter.
This is exactly why our founder, Kelly Allison, talks so much about culture. Because we believe the future of work is not about harder leadership. It is about better leadership. And this is what that looks like.
So proud of the team. And so excited for what comes next. 💫
