I've noticed recently that some well-known brands of wine have quietly and not insignificantly reduced their alcohol content. Examples include from 13.5% down to 11% (Hardy's), and from 12.5% down to 10% (Blossom Hill). Does anyone know anything about this?

It was a great pleasure to welcome Alan Brown MP to The Book Nook yesterday. Alan is also excited that a business in his constituency won the Favourite Family Business UK Award - he even got a hold of the trophy!
We had a great book chat and Alan was very interested to hear of all the wider offerings of The Book Nook - the author events, Junior Book Nook Club, BookNookers book club, children's workshops, competitions and all the other book related fun we have.

With reference to the article in the Times Magazine yesterday, it’s a pity Robert Webb did not consult wiser alcohol addiction experts (Stanton Peele, Marc Kern, Lance Dodes, for instance, to name but a few) or the more enlightened books they have written. Or even our own book “Phoenix in a Bottle”.

Webb’s addiction “specialist” apparently told him: “Nobody really understands addiction. It’s very complex.”

NOT TRUE. Again, we would cite the real experts mentioned above. All of whom understand addiction perfectly well, thank you, and would argue that it is in fact perfectly simple. And can be recovered from, as we ourselves have done, even to the extent of being able to drink normally again for more than twenty years..
