After the feedback received from the boating community over the summer we have decided to redesign The Narrowboat Place website. Using Wordpress meant it was too difficult for sellers to create a shop and sell products and it had become frustrating for many, including ourselves. To be able to fix this we are now creating our own platform that will enable us to simplify the selling process. This will take a few week's of design work but we feel it is necessary if we are to meet our user's needs.

While we are going through this change, now is an ideal time to tell us what you would like from a page such as The Narrowboat Place. The core elements of the website will remain the free to use trade directory, the selling platform and an improved events page with a calendar function. However, we are open to ideas and value your feedback regarding elements to add to the website so please help us to develop a site that the community was actively involved in creating.

As an improvement to our page we had added an additional requirement for post approval/moderation prior to publication. This is not to restrict our user's posts, which we will happily moderation and support, but has been put in place due to numerous third parties attempting to post spam or submit posts that are not in accordance with our page guidelines. Being a public group we are open to all but this comes at a risk which has become difficult to control hence the additional action being taken.

Moving forward we encourage people to post on our page and group page as normal and we look forward to seeing your posts.

It was a hot, but fun, day at the Black Country Boating Festival today. We hope all the canal traders had a successful day and it was great having the chance to meet so many of you.

We very much enjoyed our trip to Bratch at the weekend.. it was great to meet fellow boaters, traders and enthusiasts at this charming event.
