Everything painted, weathered and clear coated. Need to work on the jetpack and the rigging but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I hope he likes it 😅

First coat of chrome for the weathering base. Honestly the best looking chrome-from-a-can I've tried so far in all these years. Hycote spraycans takes my vote 👍🏻

First coat of filler primer sanded and I realised I don't need to go perfect on this one. Kid is going to grow out of it in a couple of years anyway 😅. Still gonna make the majority of his armour though because he's gonna do Halloween properly this year. The things we do for our kids 😂

After a review with the client, they decided to go with the orc blood option. I prefer this look. Had fun with this bit. Black gloss acrylic mixed with Citadel Typhus Corrosion for that slightly gritty fresh orc blood look and feel. Proud to send this one off once it's dried.

Axe commission completed. Quite happy with how it turned out. Decided not to go with heavy orc blood as the client requested to have a 'used but maintained' look, not quite fresh off the battlefield. Packing it up and sending it to the client now.

Base recolour layer down. Did an initial gloss black and gloss top coat, followed by antique gold rub'n'buff. Waiting for it all to set before applying another top coat, followed by orc blood weathering over the entire axe head. Then will work on the handle.

After a long delay, the axe is finally at a point where I am happy with the base. All sides now done and ready to move on to the last stage: gold accents and weathering.

Slow progress with the hammered metal effect. Have you ever started something and instantly regretted it? From an artistic point of view doing this is worth it. But from a pure Labour time point of view its driving me insane. Manually dremelling each divot and realising there's still another 3 sides to do is destroying my motivation. But alas, this WILL get done and it WILL look legit. One thing I can say is that I severely underestimated the hardness of this metal and the bluntness of my dremel bit 😅. Onwards!

Going with this hammered metal effect on the axe. Once weathered it should pick up dirt and orc blood nicely.
