So pleased and proud to have finished the 18 months after first signing up.

Thank you to everyone who cheered me on and sent me messages today! I couldn’t have done it without your support!

I ran to raise money for which does wonderful work engaging communities with nature, supporting people to learn new skills, and helping boost people’s emotional, mental, physical and social well-being.

Happy almost half marathon to me! 19k around Bath today doing a recce of the route.

Four weeks until race day and I’m actually feeling like I’ll make it round, as long as I go at my own pace and don’t get carried away as everyone whizzes past me and I feel like I need to run faster.

I’ve been practicing not being competitive (which doesn’t come easily!), but today I took it nice and slowly and it felt manageable.

I’m running to raise money for Bath City Farm which does so much great work in the community. Here’s the link in if you’re able to donate a pound or two. https://localgiving.org/fundraising/janbathhalf/

Thank you 😊

This is my “I’ve just run 15k” face. Hurray! Hopefully I’ll be able to add another six to that by the time on 16 October🤞

As promised I’m sharing my fundraising link so if you’d like to support me head to my bio and click on the link ❤️

I’m running to raise money for an invaluable charity which supports people from the community in so many different ways.

Thanks all 😊

I think I turned into a squirrel this weekend.

After collecting three bags full of blackberries I went into full Autumn mode, stewing the blackberries, turning them into crumbles and coulis and then got carried away chopping beetroot and courgettes to make veg-based chocolate cakes to stash in the freezer.

It felt a bit like I was burying all my acorns ready for Winter 😊 although I’m not sure the cakes will stay there that long!

I wondered whether humans have some sort of built in thing which makes them want to do this when the days start getting a bit shorter? Do you know???

And I love the colour of this beetroot! Some from our garden and some from our veg bag.

I think this goat’s thinking “You’ll never manage to run a half marathon, haaaaa!”. But hopefully I’ll be proving them wrong in about six weeks’ time 😬

I’m running the in October to raise money for where this little one lives.

It’s a great place to visit (which I did today with my three year old ☺️) but also does a huge amount of important work related to conservation, education, mental and emotional well being, and to support disadvantaged and disabled people.

I’ll be posting a link to my donations page this week along with a training update. Wish me luck!

Birmingham, you were amazing 😍
We spent an action packed few days seeing the Commonwealth Games and soaking up the atmosphere in the city. Incredibly friendly, full of surprises and all round inspirational. I lived here ten years ago. It was only for about eight months but it’s had a place in my heart ever since, and it was great to go back and see it looking better than ever.

Here’s a few pics:

⭐️ Canal beauty shot
⭐️ Me wishing I’d kept up athletics while watching the 200m heats and heptathlon long jump(!)
⭐️ Cool coloured smoke to mark the start of the athletics session we watched
⭐️ The library - this is how libraries should feel - aspirational, ambitious and welcoming.

Last day before the summer holidays (read chaos🤪) begin and I’m spending it fitting in lots of last minute work bits but, equally importantly, getting some me time! Happy time at the pool 🏊🏼‍♀️

From now on the juggle begins. Fun activity-filled mum in the day, busy mum after bedtime. Luckily my work is flexible but I’m sparing a thought for those who have 9-5pm(and the rest!) jobs.

What’s changed in London in the last three years??? That’s how long it’s been since I was last there, which feels like a pretty long time.

So what’s new?
✨ The Elizabeth line - impressive architecture, speed and efficiency. I liked it.

✨ Meeting a new colleague for the first time having worked together via Zoom and Gather for the first part of this year. Also very nice.

What’s not so new?
🚶‍♀️ Walking quickly! What is it about being in London that turns me (and everyone else it seems) into a speed walker? I have not missed this.

🚊 Busy, delayed, standing room only trains. By the time I get home, today I will have spent 9 hours on public transport 😱 Nine hours!!!!

Hooray for remote working. Enabling people to work more efficiently, be more productive and walk more slowly 🤣

It was lovely to meet someone face to face for the first time instead of on a screen but I’m grateful I don’t have to do this every day!

It’s been a couple of months since I’ve run in this spot. It’s one of my favourite places - swipe left for the pics to see why 🌸

After this morning’s run it makes me wonder why I left it so long. When running back down and feeling inspired, I thought I’d try to get up here once a week!

I’m not sure I’ll manage it that frequently but it’s definitely a reminder to make time to do the things you love more often.

Not a bad spot for a bit of on the hoof work. Had a meeting in Bristol this morning so when that finished I found a shady tree to sit under to finish a few bits and pieces. Now back to a sweltering car 😬 how are you coping in the heat?

How’s your hayfever??! Mine has been going crazy this week. And running along next to the daisies and cow parsley certainly doesn’t help! Luckily the running endorphins and sunshine make up for it.

Gentle run today while I get back up to speed after slacking off a bit. Four months and a lot of training to go until the !

Any tips for half marathon training???

How are you coping with the half term work/life balance? We’ve been doing some family things in the day and then work work work in the evenings - cue a few late nights and bleary eyes. Hopefully we’ll emerge from the week like these beautiful butterflies feeling like all the effort and hard work was worth it!

If you’re trying to work while also looking after children you’ll know this juggle! What are your tips for handling it?

Or perhaps you’re a business who’s seen a drop in reach or engagement this week as people spend less time scrolling and more time in play parks, cinemas and at the beach!

Have you noticed a difference this week?
