Honesty is the forbidden policy.

I don't see many people being honest.

Dentists aren't being honest about the risks of treatment to their patients to get an easier "sell".

Practice owners aren't being honest with their team about the resentment they hold towards them for not making more money.

Associates aren't honest with their principals about wanting to work on more specific cases.

Yeah, I don't often see honesty anymore.

That does mean that when we see others be honest.

When our patients walk through the door and feel our positive intent.

Instant trust is built. Which nurtures a wholesome relationship.

Do you want to differentiate yourself and your practice?

Be honest with every endeavour.

Who am I?

In general, people don't care about who you are until you can offer them something.

My best friend Kolya used to have the most crooked, uneven and horrible teeth I'd ever seen in real life.

He got picked on by us (not my proudest moment) and mocked whenever he smiled.

The result was a bitter and unhappy boy who resented school and his peers.

Soon after the start of year 9, he went to see an orthodontist about his teeth.

The bracers were to be kept on for 3 years along with aligners for 2 years after that - yeah his teeth were that bad.

His confidence slowly grew the straighter his teeth became until that fateful day when he had his bracers removed.

He was smiling at everyone and showing his "new" teeth to as many people as possible.

The bitter and unhappy friend I had known for the last 5 years had disappeared and left behind a new man.

So who am I?

I'm the guy who wants to connect dentists with patients like Kolya. Patients who's life will change because of my marketing for dentists.

Your free consultation offer is mediocre at best.

Here's something better:

1. Reverse the risk - offer a full refund if they don't go forward with the treatment or if they are unhappy with the consultation.

2. Add bonuses - add a free teeth whitening kit and free educational videos.

3. Free = worthless. State the value of your consultation i.e. Free consultation worth £125 - needs to be stated to create value

You offering something for free will have no perceived value. People want specific consultations on the issues they are having - a general consultation is worthless to 85% of the people you are marketing to.

Rethink your offer, more patients will come from that.

What we believe to be fear isn't fear at all.

Try guess in the comments before reading on.

When I was 5 or 6 years old, me and my family went on a boat ride when visiting Tunisia.

Before the boat even left the harbour I was trembling with "fear" as I looked down into the murky water.

I didn't know what was under there and as long as I couldn't see it, I didn't feel safe.

My cousins begged me to stay on the boat with them but me and my mum went back on good old safe land and waited for 40 minutes for everyone to come back.

I regretted not going with my cousins instantly, but I was scared and the last thing I wanted to do was confront my fear.

Looking back on it now, the emotion I felt wasn't fear at all. It was anxiety.

Fear is the emotion we feel when our life is in immediate danger.

Anxiety is when our brain can't understand something and therefore perceives it as a threat.

I didn't understand what was under those murky waters and so I felt anxious about staying on the perfectly safe boat.

We all have something that makes us anxious in our day-to-day lives. Something at work most likely.

Being a dentist and running a dental practice is far from stress-free, but how much anxiety comes from you not understanding what to do?

I imagine a lot.

This is why we work with dentists directly. Everything marketing, sales and systems get sorted out.

That means no more anxiety.

Discipline isn't waking up on time.

It's not doing your bed.

It's not eating healthy and exercising.

I remember waking up at 6 a.m. on a Thursday, getting ready to revise for my A-Levels.

This may seem a distant memory to us all but hear me out.

I would spend the first couple of hours getting my notes ready, brainstorming my study session & planning the day.

2 hours went by and I still did no work.

Then it was 8 a.m. and time for breakfast. "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day" - yeah right.

Once I had breakfast, I felt lethargic from all the carbs I had eaten and I didn't feel like I was capable of revising.

I spent another hour "recovering" from my meal and making sure I was "ready" to revise.

It's already 10 a.m., I've been awake for 4 hours and not a single bit of revision has actually been done.

Although I still got my 4 As I wasn't working with discipline.

Discipline is doing things you NEED to do when you don't FEEL like doing them.

It's precisely discipline that will help you succeed and make your dreams come true.
