This wall had a bad bump where the plasterboard was badly damaged — repair was needed before it could be painted.

We secured the board, then skimmed it three times to build up a solid, flat surface. Once dry, it was sanded down and the ceiling, walls and woodwork were all repainted in white for a clean, uniform finish.

While we were in, we also refreshed the bathroom walls and woodwork, including digging out the damaged caulk and recaulking around the woodwork to give a neat, watertight seal.

The key with jobs like this is simple:

Don’t just cover the problem — prepare it properly first.

A little more preparation can make a massive difference to the final result and how well the finish holds up over time. 💪

Stripping wallpaper yourself can soon turn into a much bigger job when the plasterboard underneath starts to crumble — that’s exactly what happened in this bedroom.

The customer had already stripped the room, but once we got involved it was clear the walls needed heavy repair before they could be decorated. 👇

🛠️ First, we sanded and scraped away all loose and unsound surfaces, removing anything that wasn’t securely bonded.

🎨 A first skim was applied to flatten the deeper damaged areas, followed by a final skim over the full walls to bring everything back to a smooth, even finish.

Once dry, the whole room was sanded down and repainted in a durable Matt emulsion — the customer chose this lovely green for the walls.

The ceiling was repainted in a flat white Matt emulsion, and all woodwork was finished in water-based satin wood for a clean, hard-wearing look.

This office at Bells Pies head office had a whiteboard removed, leaving the wall in need of proper repair before it could be painted.

Rather than just painting over the damage, we tackled the job properly from the start. 👇

🛠️ First, we made good the area where the whiteboard had been, filling and preparing the wall so it was smooth and level with the surrounding surface.

🎨 The walls were then skimmed and sanded to a clean, flat finish before being decorated with a durable Matt emulsion, giving a hard-wearing surface suited to a busy commercial environment.

This was a walls-only job — no woodwork or ceilings — focused on delivering a neat, professional result with minimal disruption to the business.

This outbuilding had been suffering from water damage and flaking paint, particularly across the ceiling.

Rather than simply putting another coat over the existing finish, we tackled the problem properly from the start. 👇

🛠️ First, we scraped back all loose and flaking paint, removing anything that wasn’t securely bonded.

🎨 The ceiling was then recoated with an oil-based undercoat, giving us a solid, secure base and helping prevent the remaining paint from continuing to flake.

The walls needed attention too, so we sealed them with oil-based undercoat before finishing with a durable matt emulsion.

This helped seal the affected areas, prevent the previous problems from coming back through and gave the walls a smooth, flat and full finish. 👌

On this recent new-build project, we were brought in to sort out a few areas that had been left looking less than perfect.

We worked across the hall, stairs & landing, bathroom and living room, where we had blown tapes, damaged areas, bumps and spills that needed properly correcting before decorating could begin. 🛠️

So rather than simply painting over them, we fixed the problems properly.

🔨 Blown tapes repaired
🔨 Damaged areas skimmed flush
🔨 Bumps and imperfections corrected
🔨 Spills and marks repaired
🔨 Surfaces fully prepared before painting

Once everything was smooth and ready, we finished the rooms with products chosen to give a clean, durable finish that looks great and stands up to everyday life. 👌

✨ Ceilings — finished in a low-reflective matt emulsion for a clean, flat appearance.

✨ Walls — finished in a durable matt emulsion to help resist everyday scuffs and bumps, while making marks easier to wipe away with water.

✨ Woodwork — finished in satin for a clean, hard-wearing finish.

Two full bathrooms repainted by Grays Decor. Bathrooms take a lot of wear and tear from steam and condensation.

We started by digging out all the cracks and scraping back any damaged, flaking areas right down to a solid surface. After that, we applied three skims of filler and sanded everything back smooth to create a solid base.

To give the area the best protection, we repainted the walls and ceilings using a high-quality durable matt emulsion. This paint acts as a tough barrier to keep moisture back and protect the finish, and it comes with anti-mould technology through the paint.

To complete the rooms, we applied a water-based satin to freshen up all the woodwork.
