I often get asked about online colour analysis which involves you taking a photograph of yourself.
I also get asked about whether you can do-it-yourself.
Personally I prefer an in-person colour analysis because the nuances of colour are much more difficult to see in a screen. Please note - I am not saying that it doesn’t work! I just don’t offer it as a service. Colour is so personal too, I always take the individuals personality and preferences into account, which is easier face to face.
There are many things to look out for, and this is a big one - your camera or phone ‘adjusting’ it’s automatic settings.
Inadvertently, I captured this whilst making a video for a different purpose, which I think it really useful to show.
If I used the images that had the AF/AE enabled and not locked, it appears that the colours actually look worse on me than the black and white drape, which is wrong.
Can you see the difference? This is why colour analysis using AI struggles too.
