Had you noticed the BBC had changed it's logo? Back in June this year it revealed the new look. The previous design featured three blocks containing the letters B,B, an C in Gill Sans font.
The new logo, makes the blocks slightly wider apart and changes the font used to one created and owned for the BBC called BBC Reith. This means they no longer have to pay licensing fees to use Gill Sans.
Today the BBC launched the full 'modern makeover'. Its services, Weather, Sport, IPlayer, Sounds and Bitesize have had an update. Now featuring icons made up of three blocks in differing colours.
The BBC said it wanted to modernise "all aspects of our services so the experience feels coherent wherever you access our content" adding that it wanted to "join the dots" between the different BBC services "through simplified layouts and graphics".
The work is a collaboration between BBC’s in-house teams and Wolff Olins. The exact cost of the re-brand will not be revealed.
Here is what the BBC have to say on the subject.

For me, the jury is still out on the BBC cubes redesign. The cost comparison between the saving on font licensing and the rollout across all 'touch points' (I still hate that phrase) would be interesting, given that the BBC is a publicly funded company.
As for the new services icons. I quite like them, bold, clean and given a few weeks In use easily recognisable as stand alone designs.
I'd love to know what you think.
