Day 2 of our Social Action Project!

This morning we served a delicious healthy breakfast to the young people at Milgreen.

Then we went over to Rathcoole and made a great pot of chicken curry 😍

Then we took part in another community litter pick, picking in Longlands and Bawnmore.

Still more to come this week ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Tyson Fury to donate entire £8m purse to the homeless after incredible Deontay Wilder fight!

When interviewed recently he said:

“I don’t really have much use for it, I’m not interested in becoming a millionaire or a billionaire.

I’m a boxer not a businessman and I’ll probably go down the same route as every other boxer skint at the end of it all, You can’t take it with you so I might as well do something with it and help out people who can’t help themselves.

I’m going to give it to the poor and I’m going to build homes for the homeless."

Wonderful Idea! Hopefully soon Ireland will have the same opportunity ❤️

Londoners will now be able to use their contactless payment cards to donate £3 to help tackle homelessness this winter, the city's mayor said. More than 90 contactless points will be placed in cafes, cinemas, bars and hotels across the city, where people can donate by tapping their card or mobile ....

On Friday night, some members of the Newtownabbey group were in Tescos collecting donations from very generous people. We also handed out leaflets educating shoppers what they could donate to the local food banks. This can ultimately make someone’s Christmas. We may have our Christmas Dinners but not everybody in our communities do. ❤️ Thank you to Tescos for letting us help! X

Washington DC 27/10/18-2/11/18

The Newtownabbey group paired up with a bunch from Larne and Ballymena and travelled 6000 miles across the Ocean to Washington DC.
The group took part in sightseeing such as the Whitehouse, Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, US Capitol Building, Smithsonian and so many more, but most importantly we accomplished what we were sent to do. That was to help the homeless and the less fortunate. We met so many lovely people, homeless people we felt very emotional about leaving behind. We prepared food in DC central kitchen and food and friends. We served food in S.O.M.E (so others might eat) The group also made beds in “Central Union Mission” which is a shelter that is put in place for homeless men.
The group also listened to heartbreaking stories from two former homeless people. Those stories really put things into perspective for us young people living in Northern Ireland who have our NHS and benefits.
Coming home from a trip like that, we really value what we have and seeing it may be “America” but we have it a lot better than we realised. The grass isn’t always greener.
We have made friendships that will last a lifetime and I think it’s safe to say our group would go back to help there in a heartbeat. It truly was an experience of a lifetime. We are so grateful 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
