Don’t waste the click.

Getting people onto your website is the hard part.

Once they’re there, the site should be pulling its weight.

Can they book?
Order?
Join your mailing list?
Send an enquiry without faffing about?

Or are they just having a wee look and disappearing?

At Podium, we build websites that do more than sit there looking pretty. Booking systems, ordering platforms, CRM links, mailing list sign-ups, loyalty, gift cards, and the bits that actually help turn interest into business.

Because once someone lands on your site, you want a next step.

Not a dead end.

The weather’s turning. Are the enquiries?

First of June, and this is where people start looking at all the jobs they’ve been putting off while the weather was doing its usual grey nonsense.

Garden work. Patios. Driveways. Extensions. Roof repairs. Kitchens. Bathrooms. The stuff people have been “meaning to sort” since about February but needed one half-decent stretch of weather to remember again.

For trades and home improvement businesses, this is when the searches start picking up.

And when people go looking, they’re not waiting about. They’ll check the website, look for photos of previous work, scan the reviews, see if you cover their area, and decide pretty quickly whether you look like the right person to call.

You can be brilliant on the tools and still lose work if the online side is making life harder than it needs to be.

A clear website. Strong project photos. Simple enquiry forms. Local SEO. Services laid out properly. A setup that helps people find you, trust you, and get in touch without needing to dig around.

That’s the bit we build.

Websites from £60 a month, with payment plans available, so getting the digital side sorted doesn’t need to become another job you keep putting off.

If you’re a trade business heading into the busier months and your website still isn’t pulling its weight, speak to us.

June’s next week. Same plan, or same excuses?

Next week we enter June, which means we’re almost halfway through 2026.

This is usually the point where people start having that quiet little chat with themselves about the things they said they were going to sort this year. The website, the booking system, the online shop, the proper push, the thing they know would help, but somehow keeps getting pushed into “when things calm down”.

Then summer runs on, autumn lands, and before long you’re giving yourself the same “there’s always next year” speech with a different calendar in front of you.

I’m not saying you need to launch the whole thing by Friday. But if the same idea, problem or half-finished plan has been sitting there since January, at some stage you have to stop letting it drift.

Pick the next sensible move and take it. Tighten the website, make enquiries easier, sort the ordering or booking flow, or finally put the business online in a way that backs up the work you’re trying to win.

The second half of the year is coming regardless.

You can carry the same excuse into it, or give yourself something better to build from.

Built an agency and thinking about what comes next?

If you run a web design, development or digital agency, and you’ve been thinking about stepping back, moving on, or finding the right home for what you’ve built, we’d be open to a conversation.

Could be a small agency.
Could be a freelance setup with a strong client base.
Could be a book of hosting, support or retainer clients that deserves to be looked after properly.

We know what goes into building something in this space. The clients, the late nights, the support requests, the updates, the “quick changes” that are never quick, and the responsibility of keeping everything moving.

So if you’re at the stage where you’re thinking, “right, what now?”, we’re interested in speaking.

Get in touch with us for a confidential discussion.

Sick of the big delivery platforms taking a cut every time someone orders your food?

You make it.
You serve it.
You build the customer base.
Then someone else takes a slice of the order for the privilege.

Not ideal.

That’s where Podium Orders comes in.

We build online ordering platforms that let food and drink businesses sell directly to their customers, without handing over a hefty third-party fee every time.

Delivery, Pickup & Table Ordering
0% Commission
Data, Marketing & Loyalty

Your customers order from you.
Your brand stays front and centre.
Your data stays in your hands.
And your margins don’t get quietly shaved down on every single order.

If you’re ready to take orders directly and keep more of what you earn, give us a shout and we’ll show you how Podium Orders works.

100 no’s before Canva got its yes.

Before Canva became the thing half the world uses for posters, pitch decks, menus, school bits and last-minute “can you make this look less tragic?” jobs, Melanie Perkins was being told no.

A lot.

More than 100 investors passed on the idea.

That would knock plenty of people sideways. But what I like about her story is that she did not just keep shouting the same idea at people and hoping someone would eventually get it.

She sharpened it.

Canva did not start as the giant it is now. The earlier version was Fusion Books, a simpler tool for school yearbooks. Smaller idea. Clearer audience. Same bigger vision underneath it.

That is a serious lesson for anyone building something.

Sometimes people are not saying no because the idea is bad. Sometimes they just cannot see it yet. Sometimes it needs shaped better, explained better, or built in a way that makes the value obvious.

That is where a lot of good businesses get stuck.

The idea is there. The ambition is there. But online, it is not landing the way it should.

At Podium, that is the bit we help with. Websites, systems, e-commerce, ordering, apps, loyalty and the digital setup that takes something from “aye, that could work” to “right, this is real.”

If you have got something worth building, do not leave it sitting as a rough idea.

Let’s give it shape.

User experience: the bit your customers feel before they ever enquire.

In 2026, user experience is not just a design conversation. It is a business one.

Every slow page, awkward form, confusing menu, hidden button or messy layout has a cost. Maybe it is a lost enquiry. Maybe it is someone abandoning a booking. Maybe it is a customer giving up because the website made them work too hard.

That is the bit a lot of businesses still miss.

Good UX is not about making a website feel fancy. It is about removing the little bits of friction that stop people taking action.

People make snap judgements quickly. They scan more than they read. They notice when something feels clunky, even if they could not explain why. And if the page takes too long to load, or the next step is not obvious, they are usually gone.

That is why we care so much about structure at Podium.

Not just how the site looks, but how it works. How fast it loads. How easy it is to move through. How clearly it explains what you do. How quickly someone can enquire, book, buy or get in touch.

Because fixing those things after launch is harder, messier and usually more expensive than building them properly from the start.

A good website should not make customers think too hard.

It should guide them.

That is the standard we build to.

People eat with their eyes first. They book the same way.

For caterers, things can ramp up fast this time of year. One minute it’s quiet enough, next thing everyone’s booking weddings, parties, communions and summer events. And before they ever get in touch, they’ve already had a look at your menus, your photos, and whether the business feels organised enough to trust. You can be brilliant at the food and still lose the booking if the website feels dated or the enquiry process is clunky.

And the good news is, it doesn’t need to be some massive scary spend to get it sorted. From £60 a month, with payment plans available too, you could have yourself a website that looks the part, works properly, and makes it easier for people to enquire.

Clear menus. Strong imagery. Straightforward contact. A digital setup that makes you look as polished online as you are on the day.

That’s the kind of thing we build at Podium.

So if the busy months are around the corner and your online presence still feels a bit thrown together, now’s a good time to sort it.

Being interested is easy. Being committed is different.

One thing I’ve learned in business is that plenty of people are interested.

Interested in growing.
Interested in doing better.
Interested in building something bigger.

But committed is different.

Committed is what kicks in when it stops being exciting and starts needing a bit of graft. When the first version is not quite right. When the numbers are slower than you hoped. When the easy option would be to leave it for another week and tell yourself you’ll “come back to it”.

That’s usually where the gap opens up.

The businesses that go somewhere are rarely the ones with the biggest talk. They’re the ones that keep showing up, keep improving, and keep tightening things up when other people lose interest.

That’s how we look at things at Podium too.

Not quick wins for the sake of it. Not flashy nonsense that looks good for five minutes. Proper work, done properly, so the website, systems, and digital side of the business actually hold up when it counts.

Because being interested might get something started.

Being committed is what gives it a chance to become something real.
