5 trends you need to include in your social media strategy 🙌

1. Influencers. Some love them, some hate them. But by doing your research and finding the right influencer for your brand, the results are sure to follow.

2. User Generated Content. A great way to gain authenticity and credibility. Your audience will love to see things from the customers point of view and it’s great for times when your struggling to post fresh content. Win win.

3. Location Tag. It’s the most simple but effective method that LOADS of hospitality businesses fail to do. I also recommend using your location in your caption if possible and a hashtag with your location. You don’t want to miss out on potential customers because you forgot to add your location. This is also beneficial for geo-location sponsored posts.

4. Customer Service. This is one of my favourites and I know most people are thinking why?? Because I am lucky enough to have received amazing customer service training during my career and it’s such a pet peeve when I get bad customer service. Agree?
I am always happy to pay for those extra touches and exceptional service - most people are. It’s the same on social media. When a follower takes the interest in your business to write comment or DM, respond to them in a timely manner. If they are ignored then they might decide to go to the restaurant next door instead.

5. Customer Reviews. This is following on from good customer service. We all love when we get glowing reviews and dread when we see a low rated review. However, even the best of establishments get the odd bad review - it’s completely normal. When you look at a negative review as an opportunity you take more from it. A minority of customs will complain so take what they are telling you seriously and learn from the negative feedback.

Why should your hospitality business be active on social media?

I'll tell you why.

Whether you realise it or not people are already talking about your business on social media even if you don't have a business page. One search of your business on Instagram or Facebook, you could stumble upon photos of your food or customer reviews on Google or TripAdvisor.
So, you need to have a presence on different social media platforms to give you some control while capitalising on what people are already saying.

Social media is here to stay. It’s one of the best ways to connect with a wide variety of audiences and potential customers. Social media allows you to show the humanistic side of your business in a way that no other form of digital marketing can accomplish.

I have created 5 simple content ideas to help you show the "human" elements in your hospitality business across your social media accounts. Social media is about being social so don't have a "faceless" account.
