If you run ads, you will receive emails, texts or messages claiming to be from Meta saying there’s a problem with your account or adverts.
👉 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗸𝗲. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.
These scams are getting smarter and more official-looking, but the aim is always the same:
to panic you into clicking a link.
How Meta actually works
✔️ If there’s an issue with an advert, Meta stops it immediately. You’ll see it’s not running and the reason will be shown inside your ad account.
✔️ If there’s a serious account issue, it’s handled internally and instantly. No warnings. No grace period. No emails asking you to act.
Meta does not ask you to click links to fix problems.
🚩 Spot the red flags (this applies to banks, broadband, PayPal, everything)
❌ “Your account will be disabled in 24 hours”
❌ Big blue buttons like “Request a Review” or “Restore Account”
❌ Urgent language designed to scare you
❌ Slightly odd email addresses or domains
❌ Being asked to confirm identity, verify ownership, or pay a small fee
❌ Messages arriving by email, SMS or Messenger instead of inside your account
If you see any of the above, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐦.
✅ The safest way to check anything
🔒 Ignore the message
🔒 Go to Facebook or Instagram the way you normally do
🔒 Log in as usual
🔒 Check notifications inside your account
If there’s a real problem, you’ll see it there.

Banks, broadband providers, utilities, Stripe, PayPal and HMRC are all being copied right now.
I was emailed one of these today. It looked genuine. It wasn’t.
Please stay alert — and feel free to share this. It could save someone a lot of money and stress.
