“I’ll sort my will out one day…”

It’s one of those sentences we’ve probably all said. And while I’m currently enjoying a holiday myself I’ve been reflecting.

There’s always something that feels more urgent.

The mortgage.
The kids.
Work.
The holiday.
The list of jobs around the house.

And because none of us expect to die tomorrow, writing a will can feel like something we can put off until later.

I was exactly the same.

But here’s the thing…

A will isn’t really just about you.

It’s about the people you leave behind.

It’s about making sure your wishes are known.

It’s about deciding who should benefit from the things you’ve worked hard for.

It’s about making things as straightforward as possible for your family at what could already be an incredibly difficult time.

And if you have children, there’s another really important consideration: who would look after them if you weren’t here?

Without a will, the law decides what happens to your estate. It doesn’t necessarily reflect what you would have chosen.

That’s why, as we build the estate planning side of Pelagion Advisory, I’ve become even more passionate about having these conversations.

Because putting a will in place isn’t about expecting the worst.

It’s about preparing for the unexpected.

And actually, once it’s done, there’s something incredibly reassuring about knowing it’s sorted.

If you haven’t got a will yet, perhaps today is the day to stop saying “one day.”

Because your future self — and your family — might thank you for it.

For the past few months, I've been dropping little hints that something new was on the horizon.

Today, I can finally share what that is.

Pelagion is evolving into Pelagion Advisory, and we're launching the first phase of our new journey with a focus on Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

This isn't a random pivot. It's the result of a lot of reflection about the kind of business I want to build over the next chapter of my career.

I've always enjoyed helping people make informed decisions that give them confidence about the future. Estate planning is exactly that. It's about protecting families, preserving choices and giving people peace of mind long before it's ever needed.

The part that makes this even more special is that I won't be doing it alone.

My daughter, Rachel Noonan is joining me in the business.

She brings a law degree, fresh perspective and the same values that have always guided the way I work: putting people first, explaining things in plain English and building relationships based on trust.

For us, this isn't just the start of a new business venture. It's the start of building something together that we hope will serve families across East Yorkshire for many years to come.

This is only Phase 1.

There are more developments to come over the coming months, but for now we're excited to begin helping individuals, couples and families put the right legal foundations in place for the future.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged and cheered me on during this transition. Your messages, conversations and referrals have meant more than you know.

Here's to the next chapter.

It’s always a great feeling when you get good feedback from a client and this morning was one of those times!

I joined my fellow members of Wolds BNI (Beverley and East Yorkshire) for our in person breakfast meeting and was presented with this lovely testimonial from Mark Edwards of Alec W G Hall Outfitters.

It’s a sign to zoom out and get sharper.

Clarity first. Everything else second.
