Opening 23 October at The Stirling Smith:
'Ancient Sudan: enduring heritage' — a British Museum Spotlight Loan
Discover the story of the ancient Kingdom of Kush through nine objects from the British Museum, including a bronze figurehead of a goddess, a sandstone offering table, and a painted grave jar adorned with crocodiles.
The exhibition explores religious life, craftsmanship and the important role of women in Kush*te society — as well as modern-day efforts to protect Sudan’s cultural heritage.
Only two UK venues are hosting the exhibition — and The Stirling Smith is the only one in Scotland. Free entry. Runs until 22 February 2026
A British Museum Spotlight Loan supported by the Dorset Foundation in memory of Harry M Weinrebe.
