While Elon Musk’s X is preparing for battle against his platform’s latest European DSA fine, Meta has seemingly had something of a win in its most recent EU regulatory concern, with the EU Commission accepting Meta’s latest proposal to use less personal data for targeted advertising

The proposal will allow EU users to restrict the use of their data for ad targeting.

Instagram has announced that the platform now supports 3:4 aspect ratio photos, which is the native format for more phone cameras.

Meta’s adding some new measures to help brands protect their IP, with an update to its Brand Rights Protection Manager tool, which detects replicas in product listings, and a new Intellectual Property Reporting Center that will track IP violation reports, making it easier to keep tabs on concerns.

That also means that social platforms are rolling out their big ad updates for the festive push, and today, it’s Meta’s turn to announce a range of new ad updates for lead-based campaigns, in order to help you gather more direct contacts with your seasonal campaigns.

Meta has today showcased two new generative AI projects, that will eventually enable Facebook and Instagram users to create videos from text prompts, and facilitate customized edits of images in-stream, which could have a range of valuable applications.

Both projects are based on Meta’s “Emu” AI research project, which explores new ways to use generative AI prompts for visual projects.

The first is called “Emu Video”, which will enable you to create short video clips, based on text prompts.

The new tools could facilitate a range of new creation opportunities.
