Tip of the day:

3D Printing Myth-Busting: Glue Sticks on PEI Sheets!

If you’re still smearing glue stick on your PEI build plate thinking it’ll make prints stick better — here’s the truth

Glue sticks actually do the opposite on PEI!
PEI is designed to grip filament perfectly when it’s clean and at the right temperature. Adding glue just creates a slippery barrier that ruins adhesion, causes uneven first layers, and leads to poor bed levelling.

So what should you use instead?
If you’re printing something that really needs a release layer — like PETG, TPU, or nylon — skip the glue stick and reach for:

A light mist of spray glue (like 3DLac or Magigoo spray)

Or even cheap unscented hairspray (e.g. Tresemmé or VO5)

These apply evenly, protect your PEI surface, and don’t ruin your first layer adhesion.

🧽 Pro Tip:
Regularly clean your PEI bed with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or warm soapy water. Most adhesion problems come from greasy fingerprints or residue — not from a “lack of glue.

To avoid confusion, we’d like to make it clear that Moose 3D (moose3d.co.uk) is an independent UK-based 3D printing business, established in 2021.
We have no affiliation or connection whatsoever with 3DMakerpro or any of its products.

The “Moose 3D” name and branding are used exclusively by our business for our design and printing services, and we’re taking steps to address this unauthorised use of our name through the appropriate channels.

We’re proud to continue offering our customers high-quality, UK-made 3D printed products and want to reassure everyone that anything sold under Moose 3D or moose3d.co.uk is produced directly by us — not by any third-party manufacturer or overseas brand.

In Loving Memory of Jerry

March 2011 – 21 August 2025 🐾

We said goodbye to our much-loved boy Jerry this week after 14 wonderful years. He was more than a pet – he was family, and a big part of our lives here at Moose 3D.

Moose 3D will be temporarily closed while we take time to grieve.

🐾 Current orders will still be processed as promised.
