The Alien Autopsy

Upon receiving this brief as part of a job application, I proceeded to look into the websites suggested, as well as ITAE Productions pages and content. This gave me an insight into the language and attitude that your work portrays.

After careful consideration of the brief and the target audience, I began looking at clear and informative design and colour palettes. My choice of colours included grey, crimson and yellow. Aliens are a topic of inquisition and curiosity, therefore choosing colours which would portray this, I believe, would benefit and have an impact on sales and conversions. I did not want to just jump into the obvious, cliché colours that are green and black.

I wanted a typeface to also mimic the idea of dissection and the desire to solve like a puzzle, so I chose to use a typeface called Tudor Victors. The typeface is bold and impactful. I chose to use yellow for the logo as it is a colour enticing curiosity and I included a magnifying glass through the middle of the A to present a closer look into a specimen we all want to understand. To accompany Tudor Victors, I chose Minion Variable Concept; a clear and simple serif font to present the information where needed.

I chose my designs to be clear and precise with a minimal but bold colour palette along with a design of framing for the trailer of the episodes. The principle of framing is to draw attention to a focal point in a layout and this is important within a topic as serious and enticing as extraterrestrial. I believe my designs would hit the intended target audience precisely as well as impacting on sales/conversions.

A design concept from the website 'Brief Box'. Little Monsters is a vitamin fruit drink for kids, offering a range of delicious, natural fruit flavoured drinks in handy, kid sized 300ml squeezy bottles.

The client is looking for a brand and packaging refresh. They are keen to create a series of characters, which can double up as brand mascots, helping to build trust and loyalty with the brand, and giving the kids something to engage with in their marketing output.

Naturally the brand name lends itself well to featuring a series of fun, cheeky monsters, but the client would also like them to have some relation or visual association to fruit and/or the health benefits of the drinks. With regard to the brand, they have requested a fun, informal and playful typographic mark, which can be used with or without the brand characters. The client is very keen to explore some custom typographic marks, to ensure their brand is totally unique.

For this brief, I have created a very vibrant and playful brand identity in response to the brief suitable for kids as well as eye-catching for the parent/guardian choosing from the shelves. Utilising a cheerful colour palette, I have designed a series of cheeky characters which could be doubled up as brand mascots using fun expressions and to match up with flavours.

A design brief set by 'Brief Box'. For this brief, the client would like to see a final brand identity and a complete range of packaging for their initial launch. Beyou is the most exciting and disruptive health bar to hit the health food market this year. Its main target audience is millennial women on the move. Think active, vibrant, fun and social.

I have created a fun and electric brand identity in response to the brief. I spent some time researching existing health food brands to see what was out there already.
Utilising 80s patterns and a bold colour palette, a bold choice of fonts and a tag line promoting empowerment and self-power, I came up with an identity for Beyou. All supported with brand advertisement and social media campaigns. (Design Concept)

Design concept for ZUNO Fruit Teas set from the website ‘Brief Box’.
“ ZUNO Fruit Teas offer a variety of unique, fair trade fruit tea blends from across the globe. Unlike many of ZUNO’s contemporaries, ZUNO are purposely trying to attract a younger audience. Fruit Tea is typically considered a slightly more mature choice of drink for Middle aged and older adults, but ZUNO are trying to break this perception and get younger people enjoying the healthy benefits of fruit tea. “

George Floyd, 46, was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin! He was handcuffed and restrained all whilst being completely cooperative. The officer proceeded to kneel on George’s neck choking him for minutes on minutes while George screamed ‘I can’t breathe’. How many more last words do we need to hear before change appears?

I have been thinking, scribbling down sketches and ideas for an amazing, elaborate design projecting how black lives matter, what we need to do, how we should speak out, how silence is not helping, how being pro black does not mean anti white and how no one is saying that all lives do not matter, but view it from the analogy of if there are 3 houses side by side, but only one is on fire 🏠🔥 would you use the water on all 3 houses or just the one that needs it the most? All of this has me sat here thinking, what can I possibly design to impact enough and show that I am standing with you in response to ? How? What? The answer is nothing. I do not need to design anything, nor should I design anything. This is NOT about me, how many likes my post will receive, whether my followers will increase etc. IT IS NOT ABOUT ME! I simply need to speak up, show that I am actively anti-racism, and that I will not be silent. The last words of the victims, the handwritten signs of the demonstrators at protests, the movements of the supporters; all of which speak for itself. It is time for change. The justice system needs to change. The clear message of Black Lives Matter should be enough! Police Brutality within the United States is all too common and it’s time for change! This will not go away once stops trending, so neither should our support. There is strength in numbers. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 Today, I kneel in solidarity and remembrance of George Floyd. I want people to donate, sign the petition (type in George Floyd Petition and SIGN🖋) and educate yourself! Get clued up on what is still going on in the world as we speak! By staying silent, you are choosing the side of the oppressor. “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” - Martin Luther King Jr.
