The Alien Autopsy
Upon receiving this brief as part of a job application, I proceeded to look into the websites suggested, as well as ITAE Productions pages and content. This gave me an insight into the language and attitude that your work portrays.
After careful consideration of the brief and the target audience, I began looking at clear and informative design and colour palettes. My choice of colours included grey, crimson and yellow. Aliens are a topic of inquisition and curiosity, therefore choosing colours which would portray this, I believe, would benefit and have an impact on sales and conversions. I did not want to just jump into the obvious, cliché colours that are green and black.
I wanted a typeface to also mimic the idea of dissection and the desire to solve like a puzzle, so I chose to use a typeface called Tudor Victors. The typeface is bold and impactful. I chose to use yellow for the logo as it is a colour enticing curiosity and I included a magnifying glass through the middle of the A to present a closer look into a specimen we all want to understand. To accompany Tudor Victors, I chose Minion Variable Concept; a clear and simple serif font to present the information where needed.
I chose my designs to be clear and precise with a minimal but bold colour palette along with a design of framing for the trailer of the episodes. The principle of framing is to draw attention to a focal point in a layout and this is important within a topic as serious and enticing as extraterrestrial. I believe my designs would hit the intended target audience precisely as well as impacting on sales/conversions.
