Last month, I did some ✨hard hard hard hard hard✨ pitching to magazines and news outlets. I have a degree in journalism, so it makes sense.

I’ve been pitching every. single. day.

Every. day.

It’s hard out here, but if you push long enough, something will stick.

Some of it paid off, because I then landed an Editor contact at Forbes.

A few things are shifting so there’s nothing in the pipeline just yet.

However, they kindly told me they’d like to stay in touch as they think ‘my voice and perspective could be a good fit for the team.’

My gast is flabbered.

Could this be the making of me?
Along with running my Linkedin membership?
And a hotel/food blog?
And writing press trip content?
And working for the BBC?

Would anyone like to know how I’ve been doing it? I’m going to be sharing the inside knowledge inside my membership next month, teeeheeeeeee.

3 THINGS TO DO WHEN FINDING NEW FREELANCE CLIENTS SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE 🚨

Here in the UK, the new financial year starts in April. This is usually when we see client budgets factory reset, therefore it’s a great time for new projects. If you’re feeling the hear right now, why not try some of these tips that I’ve been putting to use over the past few months.

👍🏼 Reach out to former clients who you’ve worked with in the past. Email your contacts list and tell them you have capacity to help with their digital needs. This is how I’ve been finding the bulk of my work at the start of 2025!

👍🏼Tell people on social media what you can do. For example, I mainly work with clients who need support with website copywriting, social media management, content creation and ad-hoc digital marketing projects. My rates fluctuate from the £400 mark.

👍🏼 Start a side hussle. Times are bloody tough right now for a lot of us, so it’s always good to diversify your income. Alongside my plantable greeting card business (bloomingheck.co.uk) I’ve recently started up a brand new digital downloads page where freelancers can buy my work. For example - I’ve created a DOPAMINE MENU for download, alongside some other brand new things.

NOT ALL FREELANCE CONTRACTS HAVE TO BE MORE THAN 1-2 DAYS PER WEEK 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I’ve been working some brilliant HIGH paying contracts lately. Probably some of the highest I’ve ever had. It’s been BRILLIANT.

I agreed with the clients upfront to work between 1-3 days for them per week.

This keeps my calendar open for NEW prospects, alongside carving out dedicated time for these specific projects/clients.

Noted that I’ve given the clients some pretty outstanding results in return. And I’ve landed some new clients because of it.

I’ve helped with:

- Top page rankings on Google
- New leads
- Quality SEO blog posts
- Social media management and content creation
- Highest page engagements and prospects on LinkedIn

The list goes on…

I’VE CRACKED THE LINKEDIN PUZZLE 🚨

As it currently stands, in 2024, my LinkedIn profile has had just shy of 2 million impressions.

To be exact, the figure comes to 1,986,305 page impressions - so may even hit the solid two come NYE!

What’s more, my page has reach 922,418 members of this platform. Which is a solid 11,000%+ increase since last year.

Wild.

The truth is: I’ve had some pretty brutal, open and honest conversations. I’ve spoken about rates, good clients, bad workloads, negativity, positivity, how to find work, and everything in between.

Because of my platform, I’ve secured some pretty solid chunks of income.

I’ve said it a thousand times, but the way to get known for the goodness of your work is to talk about it.

I write copy for websites, social media, brochures and everything inbetween. I also look after some of the biggest social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

I love to write content digitally. It’s what I’m good at.

Everything I do - I do to help clients build up their brand awareness. If you fancy working with me in 2025, I’m just a DM away.

I REMOVED MY WEBSITE, BUT I’M STILL GETTING NEW FREELANCE WORK 🚨

Want to know how?

I’ve taken my website down. I’ve had zero brain capacity to update my projects. Because I’m SWAMPED on my 3-working days right now.

A few thing can you can do to win some new contracts:

Speak like a real person.
Respond to your comments. Don’t use AI to do this.
Make connections.
Tell silly prospects to go away if they’re being super silly.
State your budgets up front.
Ask for their budgets up front.
Don’t just “jump on a call” for the sake of it.
Know your worth.
Tell people what you can do.

For example this year I have:

- Rewritten an entire drama marketing website
- Supported with social media and website audits
- Worked with some of the biggest brands on their community management
- Continually worked with the biggest broadcasting companies in the UK
- Supported with content writing, website copy, proofreading, social media management for a range of businesses.

I’ve landed a new work project this week.

To celebrate I took myself off for a massage after the school run.

I’m feeling tired and slow right now. But listening to what I need and that is some self care.
