🎨 Local artist Vicki Gorman Art Classes runs regular classes at The Core Courtyard Gallery in Solihull, and in knowle welcoming everyone from complete beginners to experienced artists looking to develop their skills.

You might know The Core Theatre for its theatre productions, live performances and events, but Vicki’s classes are just one of the many creative things happening there throughout the year.

Working across watercolours, pastels, pencils, acrylics and gouache, the classes offer a friendly and supportive environment where people can learn new techniques, enjoy live demonstrations and receive one-to-one guidance throughout.

The classes are a great opportunity to meet new people, learn a skill and carve out a little creative time for yourself each week. Vicki runs classes on Wednesdays and Fridays in Knowle, as well as Thursdays at The Core Courtyard Gallery in Solihull. 🎨

With The Core recently celebrating its busiest year since reopening, it’s a reminder that the venue is much more than just a theatre β€” it’s home to a wide range of community and creative activities.

Sometimes Birmingham just needs spaces where people can slow down a bit.

This Sunday, St Giles Church in Sheldon is hosting a free Mindfulness Day led by Warren Cowan from Let’s Connect Coaching β€” focused on breathing, mindfulness, conversation and taking a little time out from the noise of everyday life.

No pressure. No awkwardness. Just good people and a relaxed atmosphere πŸ‘

β˜• Coffee & chat included
πŸ‘Š Ladies & gents welcome

Big respect to Warren for donating his time and experience to support the community ❀️

πŸ“ ON THE MAP BIRMINGHAM

Birmingham Pride brings huge energy into the city every year β€” but it’s sparked debate again around ticketed community events and affordability.

The parade itself is free, but the main festival areas require paid tickets β€” something organisers say is necessary because of rising costs, security and staging.

Interestingly, Birmingham Pride have actually reduced prices this year and have publicly said they’d love to make the festival fully free again by 2027.

Bigger question though…

As costs rise across nightlife and events generally β€” are cities slowly pricing people out of community culture?

Or is charging now just the reality of keeping major events alive? πŸ‘‡
