🏴 One of the most meaningful parts of gathering in artist residency in Orkney has been the reflections that come from being in a group setting; each others experiences, backgrounds, learnings, references, and different practices, all overlapping.
Some of the things shared most casually have stuck most with me, and yet there was so much other intentional and rich guided learning during our week.
From holding stone-carved tools hundreds of thousands of years old, to the poetry that accompanies them.. digging into new terms, tools and meanings of what geology, archeology and people mean to a place; in Orkney, in Scotland, as a whole or beyond. For me at this stage in my practice these group perspectives are so helpful to speak freely and in good company without outside distractions.
The time away gave me a clear recommitment to what I’m working on now, what feels welcome to pursue in other art avenues and good dose of inspiration to push boundaries a little wider in general 🪨
