There are lots of reasons why branding stops working.

Your business may have evolved and you’ve outgrown it. Other times, it’s because you’ve spent so much time looking at everyone else in your industry that you’ve unconsciously started blending in.

It’s understandable. When you’re surrounded by businesses doing similar things, it can feel safer to follow the same visual cues, use the same language and position yourself in a way that feels familiar.

Memorable brands aren’t built in the safe zone though.
The brands that connect are the ones that embrace what makes them different - their perspective, personality, story and way of doing things.

A recent Wave transformation for Back on Track

Working alongside April from , I created a brand identity that reflects what Back on Track is all about: helping people move forward.

At the heart of the identity is a custom logomark that combines the letters B, O and T. The arrow running through the centre represents progress and growth, while the flowing shape reflects the ongoing journey of recovery, strength and self-improvement.

From the logo through to the wider brand system, every element was designed to feel positive and supportive.

I believe the brands people remember aren’t always the loudest.

They’re the ones that feel genuine, with a clear sense of who they are, what they stand for and what makes them different. They don’t try to be everything to everyone or chase every new trend. Instead, they lean into their strengths and build a brand around them.

That’s one of the reasons I love brand discovery so much. Time and time again, I find that the most memorable qualities are already there. They’ve simply been overlooked.

My role isn’t to invent something new. I like to uncover what already makes a business special, their superpower, that unique story that transforms a brand into something unmistakably theirs.

From loyalty cards and promotional posters for 365 Fitness, to training handouts for Barkology and thoughtfully designed memorial pieces for Farm Equine - here’s a little look at some of the print work recently leaving the studio.

People often say print has lost its place in a digital world, but I’d argue the opposite. Print still matters because it’s tangible. It’s something you can hold, keep, revisit and connect with in a way that digital often can’t. started with a simple belief that movement isn’t just about how we look, but how we feel.�Stronger. Calmer. More grounded.

When I worked on this brand with Fiona, that idea shaped everything, from how it looks to how it’s experienced.
�Because the moments we reach for activewear aren’t just about performance, they’re about resetting, reconnecting, and finding a bit of ourselves again.

Walking, running, going to the gym… it’s not always something I want to do, but it’s something I need to find balance in the chaos of running a business, juggling home life, and the ever-changing nature of a military lifestyle.

ZERO18 is built on that same intention. Using limited-run, end-of-line materials to reduce waste, creating high-quality pieces designed to last, and producing consciously here in the UK while supporting local, female-led businesses. A portion of every purchase is also given back to charities close to their heart.

Getting to wear it, move in it, and see it exist beyond the design phase has been a bit of a full-circle moment 🥰

Because this is what branding is really about, not just creating something that looks good, but something people feel.

If I’m honest, networking doesn’t come naturally to me.

It can feel a bit awkward, a bit forced… but as a business owner, I know it’s part of putting yourself out there and meeting new people.

Turns out, maybe I’ve just been approaching it the wrong way…

This morning looked like sunshine, countryside walks, honest conversations, and the kind of connections that just happen when you’re in the right space with the right people.

Huge shoutout to Helen for creating something so special with . From the thoughtful details (that millionaire shortbread 😋) to the beautifully enchanting space - never disappoints.

Feeling really grateful to be featured in this quarter’s Flo’s Mag and to have had the chance to share a little about what I do with such an inspiring group of people.
