When I started Ink and Pixels, I signed up to Ecologi, which is a green incentive that offsets my carbon emissions as a business. So far I have contributed to planting 479 trees, avoided 35 tonnes of carbon and helped to support various planting projects worldwide. It's a wonderful initiative, and I'm proud to support it.

Ink and Pixels recently helped to brand up a new look for a website aimed at showcasing local businesses, accommodation and events in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Taking inspiration from the iconic whale bone arch on the West Cliff, and adding a nautical feel, an icon was sketched out and created which would be used primarily on digital platforms, social and web.

Melissa is a long standing client, and I love her to bits! She is absolutely one of the most bubbliest and positive people you'll meet. So when she phoned me and said "Kath! I'm doing up our old 1970's bungalow! I need a really quirky logo, retro obviously, and with the bungalow, and Nigel's old car, and Bertie driving... you know what to do!"

It's now an amazing 1970's holiday accommodation and living experience.

Another blast from the past portfolio piece. When Halilit Music were rethinking their new packaging, I got asked to give it a full new look and feel. So we went clean and colourful. And I think the overall look speaks for itself.

I rarely ever get any free time these days to do unpaid work, but back when I was younger and didn't have two feral children, I worked up a set of bird illustrations which I had professionally printed and sold. I donated some of the profits to the RSPB so it was also quite rewarding to know I'd helped out a good cause too. https://inkandpixelscreative.co.uk/blog/2013-08-23-british-feathers

If you go down to the woods today...

Or the Wild Boar Park in Chipping to be more precise. During the Covid Pandemic of 2020, I was able to visit the park and work up their maps and signage. And this was FUN! Sometimes I have to pinch myself and tell myself that this is my actual job.

Two years ago we applied for planning permission and started on our mini self build adventure. As with all these projects, there are ups and downs. A building contractor let us down. However, the project was started and the old garage had been demolished. What followed was an absolute labour of love from all of us, and our close family and friends. Nic developed a new skill a week, how to fit doors, windows, build a roof! And at the end of 2023 we had our own office, complete with side garage. Working in here now feels normal, but I do often stop to think about how much work was done in order to get the new building ready.

More clothing like this please! When you have sensory processing issues, basic t-shirts can feel painful. Stupid seams and giant scratchy labels. I often have to send stuff back and we are limited to what we can wear. But Mei absolutely loves this tee, well done Max, showing the fashion industry that they need to be more inclusive and think about how stuff feels when we wear it and not just how it looks. But how lovely is this blue? Please please please make more, long sleeve, trousers, jumpers! We will buy them all! Oh and did I mention there are fidget poppers built in?! Lads a genius. One happy Mei. And one happy mum.

It’s been such fun to work on the new branding for Halilit. They are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of pre-school toys and musical instruments. The new look is one that draws on memories of ice cream sprinkles, days at the seaside, birthday parties with giant unicorn piñatas and all the joys of being a child.

It instils a sense of fun, throughout their literature, website and brochure, with shapes scattered across the pages, much like a child would do with glitter or ice cream sprinkles. Hopefully will make people smile.

Had great fun designing this cover. If there are any football fans out there, I’d highly reccomend this, it’s the sequel to The Smell of Football by Mick Rathbone. He’s honestly such a nice guy! He deserves all the success with it. Maybe a Christmas gift? It’s currently available now on his website.
