I have commented on a whole flood of "Copy and Paste" posts to get your Facebook feed back. This is like saying if you spit in an empty mug it will magically refill with coffee! It is also potentially dangerous as the text could be traceable with hidden emojis or spelling mistakes using unusual characters. You are compromising your Facebook security. Read this article for more information and just don't do it!

Social Network Registry SCAM

If you get a message/post on your business page from Social Network Registry telling you that you are in contravention of Facebook's terms and conditions do NOT follow the link in the message. It is a complete scam. Report them to Facebook and block them - although they appear to a multitude of pages with different numbers appended to each name.

How to build your audience. 🤔

To get engagement you need to build up your audience on your page. There are a few ways of doing this:

Share your page/post into a community group. This could be a selling site, information site or something completely different. Facebook groups tend to inspire a lot of meaningful conversation, and communities on Facebook are becoming increasingly active and vibrant. Just be sure to check the rules in each of the groups to see if you can post into it. (Some will only allow businesses to post on a certain day, some will require you to only have one post in a group at a time etc.) the page rules can usually be found either as a pinned post at the top of the group or in the about section. And although there is a share button on the posts on your page, when posting to another group or page, I would highly recommend you copy the text and picture you want to share and post them fresh to the page or group. This avoids Facebook algorithms thinking you are spamming if you want to post the same material to several pages/groups and putting you in Facebook jail for a week!

Ask friends and family to share your business page – this can be one of the best ways to get potential clients as the page is being personally recommended to them by someone they trust.

Something which often gets overlooked is encouraging both your regular and new clients to follow you on social media. Encourage them to like your business page NOT your personal profile.
A useful tip would be to get all your social media contact details added to any posters/leaflets/business cards you get printed.

Other ways are by running competitions and boosting posts / advertising. Both of which we will cover in future posts.

Wondering where your 'Our Story' section has gone?? 🤔

As part of Facebook's improvements they are prompting page owners to move their 'Our Story' sections to a new 'Additional Information' section.

The 'Our Story' section is supposed to currently appear as a secondary panel under your 'About' section but of the few pages I have checked this morning it just seems to have disappeared!

✏️ You can update your info by going to your 'About' section and clicking 'Edit Page Info' > 'More' and then you can edit the 'Additional Information' box.

It is probably a really good opportunity to check the rest of your details are up-to-date too such as phone number, email address, website, and location.

After WhatsApps announcement last week that it will be sharing more data with Facebook, other platforms such as Signal and Telegram have seen a huge surge in downloads.

Whilst the change does not affect users in the UK or Europe, it is always good to keep up with the best options for you and your business and any new updates or features that other platforms may add as a result of more people using them.
