'I'm so happy we chose Brilliant Digital. Alex and the team created the website for Justified Fire and Security Ltd. The process was detailed, delivered by experts and we were reassured by their personable approach. They created a website that told the story of our business and clearly presented us in the way we wanted. Thank you again. Would highly recommend.'

Adam L, Justified Fire and Security. Google Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

'Told the story of our business.' That's what a good website does. It doesn't just list what you offer. It communicates who you are, how you work, and why someone should trust you.

Thank you, Adam.

WordPress is free. Until it isn't.

Here's what a basic WordPress business website actually costs:

β†’ Domain name: Β£8-Β£20/year
β†’ Hosting: Β£60-Β£360/year (shared to managed)
β†’ Premium theme: Β£56/year
β†’ SEO plugin: Β£40/year
β†’ Legal pages plugin: Β£117/year
β†’ Advanced forms: Β£64/year

That's Β£345-Β£657 per year. Before you've even thought about maintenance.

And maintenance? Technically optional. But without it, you're leaving your site exposed.

β†’ Plugins need updating
β†’ Themes need patching
β†’ Security vulnerabilities need fixing
β†’ Most WordPress sites we see have 15-30 plugins, and at least a few are outdated or conflicting

A maintenance package runs around Β£69/month. That's Β£828 per year to keep things running smoothly.

WordPress is a powerful platform. But 'free' it is not. The real cost is hidden in the layers of things you need to make it work properly for a business.

We've broken down every cost, including alternatives, in our latest article. Link in the comments.

Nene School of Dancing teach ballroom, Latin, and sequence dance classes for adults across Peterborough, Stamford, and Market Deeping.

For years their online presence was an outdated WordPress site that hadn't kept up with the business. No clear class schedules, no way to register interest, and a design that didn't reflect the welcoming experience students actually get when they walk through the door.

We built them something better. A warm, elegant website designed around a specific problem: most adults thinking about dance classes feel intimidated.

β†’ 'No prior experience needed' messaging throughout
β†’ Clear class schedules with locations and times for all three venues
β†’ A platform to showcase their client reviews
β†’ A simple registration form that takes the awkwardness out of signing up

Three dance styles. Three venues. One clear path from 'I'm curious' to 'I've registered.'

Sometimes a website isn't about the technology. It's about removing the barrier between someone wanting to do something and actually doing it.

Full case study in the comments.

Your website is often the first impression you make on a potential customer. If that impression feels dated, cluttered, or slow, they're going to your competitor instead.

Here are the honest signs it's time for a rebrand:

🟑 Your design looks like it belongs in 2018
Heavy gradients, flashy animations, cluttered layouts. What looked modern five years ago now signals 'we haven't invested in this.'

🟑 Your site isn't mobile-friendly
More people browse on their phone than on a desktop. If your site isn't responsive, you're losing visitors every day.

🟑 Your competitors look better
If their websites are cleaner, faster, and easier to use, potential customers will notice. They might not consciously think 'this website looks outdated,' but they'll feel it.

🟑 Your traffic or conversions are declining
Slow load times, broken links, and content that no longer resonates. All contribute.

🟑 Your business has changed
New services, new markets, new positioning. If the business has evolved but the website hasn't, there's a disconnect your customers can see.

A rebrand isn't just about looking different. It's about aligning your digital presence with where your business actually is now.

We wrote a full guide covering when to act and what the process looks like. Link in the comments.

'Brilliant Digital is a fantastic company to work with. I am someone who is very particular and with the help of Alex he was able to put my vision into reality. Nothing has been too much trouble and the communication has been exceptional. The support is ongoing and I feel relaxed that my website is in great hands. If I could have given 6 stars I would have.'

Elene Pryor, Google Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Every rebrand starts with a vision. Elene knew exactly what she wanted, and that's the best kind of brief to work with. Clear communication, attention to detail, and the patience to get it right.

Thank you, Elene.

Content marketing is not a buzzword. It's a way of getting found in Google without paying for every click.

Here's the case for it: content marketing generates 3x more leads than outbound marketing, at 62% of the cost. And unlike PPC, the content keeps working after you publish it.

A library of useful, well-optimised articles generates enquiries indefinitely. For small businesses with limited budgets, that's significant.

Three rules that actually matter:

β†’ Be genuinely useful. Not promotional. If someone reads your article and learns something they can act on, even if they never hire you, you've done it right.

β†’ Be consistent. One article a month, every month, beats ten articles in January and nothing until June. The library compounds.

β†’ Write for a specific audience. Not everyone. The tighter your focus, the more relevant your content, and the more Google rewards it.

Here's the part most agencies won't tell you: small businesses have an edge. You can write from genuine first-hand experience. A large agency can produce volume, but they can't replicate the authenticity of someone who actually does the work every day.

We've written a full guide with a seven-step process for getting started. Link in the comments.

How many enquiries has your page generated this month?

Not likes. Not comments. Not someone tagging their mate. Actual phone calls or messages from people who found you and wanted to hire you.

If the answer is "not sure" or "none", that is the problem.

A page is brilliant for staying in touch with people who already know you. But it does not help new clients find you.

πŸ” It does not show up when someone Googles "plumber near me"
πŸ€– It does not get cited when someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation
πŸ“‰ Less than 2% of your followers even see your posts

We wrote a full breakdown of what a page can and cannot do for your business, and what it actually costs to fix the gap.

Yes, we see the irony of posting this here 😏

Greystone Heritage specialise in heritage restoration, bespoke renovations, and traditional building work across Northamptonshire. Years of craftsmanship. Stone, brick, period properties. The kind of work that takes real skill and patience.

They had no website. None. All that craftsmanship, invisible to anyone searching online.

We changed that. Built their first-ever web presence from scratch:

β†’ Dark, sophisticated design that mirrors their craft. Measured, thoughtful, unhurried.
β†’ Portfolio gallery showcasing their restoration work
β†’ High-quality photography front and centre
β†’ Mobile-first, fast-loading, modern underneath

The result: a digital presence that finally does justice to the quality of their work.

Sometimes the best projects are the ones where you're not redesigning. You're giving someone a voice they never had.
