A dragon painted this week at the King of Wessex pub in Basingstoke. It was so hard to see the pounce marks, I ended up chalking most of it on by hand.

Another trip over to Jersey, this time for 3 pubs. The sun was out, which was bloody nice. All the jobs were in the town centre of St Helier, so I piled all my work stuff into my hotel room and would walk to jobs carrying what I needed, nice to have a few days without parking stress.

Decorated and signwritten fascia for last week. Go check them out they’ll be open on the 13th February. The paint was a funny mix of four ingredients; magenta Ronan One Stroke (for the main colour) with a bit of white Japan Color (to lighten it) plus some flattening paste (to flatten it) and hardener (to make it dry quicker). This building is so cool, built in the 14th century and has the original wooden beams inside. I did the signwriting on it last time too, a few years ago when it changed from a cafe to an escape room.

Yesterday I fitted the sign (that I made for my first workshop) on the front of the new workshop. One day I’ll possibly repaint it completely, just for something different, but for now it’ll stay the same. Also got some restoration jobs in, an original Hinton Admiral station sign and a pub sign from the Coote Arms, that used to be over in a place called Martin, near Fordingbridge. They’re both ‘sympathetic’ restorations, as opposed to a ‘complete’ restoration. They should be fun to do.

I made this for my vintage clothes sale rail. I have an aluminium rail that I take to car shows, and other places, selling American and Japanese sportswear, so had to make a sign that I’ll fix along the top of the rail. I started this back in the summer and it’s been sitting to one side ever since, I decided to get it done yesterday, or it might never have happened. The board is cut and routered MDF and painted with Ronan One Stroke from Sabre Paints.

More Land Rover doors, this time for These were designed and drawn up, then painted with a mix of Ronan Japan Colours and One Stroke enamels. I like to put a bit of gloss enamel in my Japans for this sort of work, so the paint isn’t completely flat.

Finally finished my big job in Cardiff; a mural on the Owain Glyndwr pub, plus some fascia lettering and a load of internal directional signs, in Welsh and English. Thanks to for the help, and .streetfood and for the food. Now I can get paid for the job and run off to Japan for a month.
