What is the real purpose of your website?
It's a harder question to answer than you might think. Or at least you've never thought about it before.
Most assume they need one. Because it's what everyone is doing.
Maybe you just wanted something that looked pretty. I think this is true for most people, if we are being honest.
Perhaps you thought it would generate you new opportunities or leads. A more objective answer, but do you really believe you're leveraging your website the best way you can?
Also those two answers specifically relate to an end result. An outcome if you like.
The question is, what is the real Purpose?
We know humans buy as a result of emotion.
We know people have problems they want fixed.
And are willing to pay significantly to fix said problem in the best possible way.
So...is your website doing that?
Creating a message that emotionally connects with your ideal customers? Compels them to believe you have the perfect solution to their problem? So much so that they're willing to pay for it significantly?
That's the true purpose of your website. Getting your ideal customer there. Emotionally.
Yes you have an ideal outcome.
- More leads & sales
- More traffic to your website
- More phone calls
More of everything.
But in order to get a desired outcome, we have to first understand the reasons people get there - the purpose.
Cut out the buy from me messages. And menu items of services from your website on the front page.
Ditch stupid messages like award-winning and data-driven nonsense that is totally meaningless.
Ban the ambiguous content you thought was 'clever'. Where you play on words and end up with content that frankly most don't understand, let alone relate too.
Just get to the point. And create a message (and design) that emotionally compels your ideal customer.
