The Office For Product Safety & Standards (OPSS) has issued a safety alert for baby sleeping bags without armholes or with a hood, intended for unsupervised sleep in a cot or crib.

A baby could slip inside or have their nose and mouth covered, posing a serious and potentially fatal risk.

Do not buy or use these products. If you have one, stop using it immediately and contact the supplier.

This alert does not cover pramsuits, pram muffs or products specifically designed for swaddling.

🌾 🍁 ☀️ Each year I like to help the local food bank by doing a “harvest festival” collection from all of the cherubs, helping them to understand about helping other people who are less fortunate than ourselves as not everyone is as lucky as us. This year we’ve collected a wonderful amount that I shall be taking down this morning to Kinson, so thank you to all the families that took time out of their day to think about it and donate some food, you’re all wonderful humans ! 🌾 🍞 🥫

🎭We’ve been sorting out the new outdoor kitchen we’ve been lucky enough to inherit as the old one had seen its days in the sun and rain ! The new one’s much more weather friendly ! Let just hope we get to use it a bit before the weather changes !!! 🙏 ☀️

🌰*CONKER HUNTING* 🌰
What fun we always have every year doing this ! The cherubs absolutely love finding the conkers, big or small, fallen from the trees ! 🌲
Some still in their shell, and we have a challenge to see who can release them ! And pop … a surprise inside for us to collect and take home! Some maybe spikey ! Some have already fallen out of their shell, but either way we love them ! Such a wonderful natural resource with so many wonderful ways to learn with them. We started off by taking them home and rolling the down the pipe, who could get the furthest ?? 📏 Who had the fastest 🏎️ ?? We used dumper trucks to collect and empty the conkers to making it a fun filled autumn afternoon 🦺 ! We shall be using our conkers again next week in different ways, so watch this space ! 🍂

🍁 Autumn has begun ! 🍁
Today we had fun on the farm, helping the farmer, talking about where our food comes from and how we go about growing and harvesting it. We had sensory play enabling our imagination to spread far and wide. Playing with tractors farm animals farm buildings and much more. We are going to start a collection next week for harvest festival and take our donations to Kinson food bank, so watch this space for the update !! 🐮 🐷 🌾 🌻

We had such a fun day on Thursday for our graduation 🧑‍🎓 day for two of our little cherubs going off to big school, all be it very emotional too ! 😭 As you can see from the pictures we had party games, party food, glitter tattoos, disco dancing, made our own rock band, an awards ceremony and a who I’d like to be when I’m older certificates, and more! Then in the evening we had the parents over for some food and a few drinkies to celebrate our time together. A wonder action packed day filled with both tears and laughter, and although you’ll be missed by both me and the other cherubs, I know you’ll just have the best time at big school ! Go conker the world kiddoes ! 🌎 thank you for everything and just being you ! 😘

**Screen use in the EYFS

DfE has included a link to the new screen use guidance to the EYFS from 1 Sept 2026.

It is to be clear that screen use is not ‘banned’. What has changed are expectations that settings follow the new guidance around building healthy habits, co-viewing with the child/ren, ensuring content is age-appropriate and slow paced and limiting use. DfE advise:

*Birth to 2 - avoid screen use where possible.

*2 - 5 years - keep screen use limited and purposeful, no more than 1 hour a day balanced at home and in the setting.

DfE say that screens should never replace play, conversations and interactions. However, screens can be used to support learning - to watch a story, listen to a song, look something up together etc. We love the Barefoot Books range on YouTube here and we will sometimes watch Danny go, kids yoga or use a drawing app - that’s not what DfE are trying to stop - it’s the mindless noise from the box and children sat in front of it for too long that they are trying to stop.

I need to make sure as a setting I share screen use and it has been discussed with parents and supports children’s learning. And you can talk about how you have reflected on your own screen use in front of the children during the day - are you setting a good example to your children?

Evidence shows that screens can have a big impact on children and their development in the early years. Screen use should be avoided for under 2s and limited to up to an hour a day for children aged 2 to 5. You should take a precautionary approach to using screens in your setting by limiting screen....
