Hi everybody,

I thought I’d properly introduce myself and say a big thank you to all the new followers recently, I really appreciate it.

I’m Darren, a freelance web designer based in Bourton-on-the-Water, working with businesses across the Cotswolds and beyond.

Seeing quite a few ads lately for “free websites”, and I totally get why they catch people’s attention.

Just worth saying though, there’s usually a big difference between having a website and having a website that actually works for your business.

Most “free” sites tend to be:

- very basic templates
- limited customisation
- little to no SEO or performance work
- paid for indirectly through hosting or ongoing fees
- That doesn’t make them bad, just different.

Before choosing any website solution (free or paid), it’s always worth asking:

Who owns the site?
What happens if I want changes later?
Will this actually help bring in enquiries?

If you’re unsure and just want a second opinion, feel free to get in touch.

Like a lot of freelancers, I had to make some changes in 2025, stepping back from full-time self-employment to bring in some steady income and balance. It’s been the right move.
I’m still running Darren Moody Web Design, working with great clients on:

✅ Website builds (WordPress, Squarespace, Duda and others)
✅ Maintenance plans
✅ Content updates, SEO basics, and booking/payment systems
