Your ticket and reminder to take time for ✨ YOU ✨

I find I seem to give my Etsy shop and Instagram either 100% or 0%, and I’m really trying to find a better balance which is right for me. But recently I’ve been paying attention to the signs when it’s getting too much (especially with working full time too) and taking a step back to enjoy some down time.

It’s honestly amazing what a bit of time doing absolutely nothing can do for your well-being and especially for me for my creative juices. Sometimes doing nothing is just as valuable as your most productive days!

So this is your reminder to take time for yourself and look after number 1 💖

My lovely lil workspace ✨

I posted my workspace as part of a challenge a few months ago but it was quite a plain space then. I’ve since moved some prints down next to me and a nice Fejka hanging down from the picture shelf to make my area feel more creative and cosy! Oh and I’ve also added some LED lights that we had kicking around underneath!

However in all honesty, this is where I work for my 9-5 job but usually when it comes to my freelance or Etsy stuff I tend to end up on the sofa with the tv on! But I still love this space regardless 🙌🏼

This may also be my way of working towards an intro to me post 😬👀

Let’s talk design degrees!

Over the last few months as many have graduated and are reflecting on their experiences there has been a lot of discussion about whether you really need a design degree to become a graphic designer.

In short, the answer is no. There are plenty of other types of courses out there and some amazing self-taught designers to prove you don’t technically need one.

However the response towards design degrees has been surprisingly negative. Maybe the pandemic has had an influence on this but I (and I know many others) had a really good experience with our degrees - spoke about this on her stories recently - so I wanted to highlight just some of the things I learnt from my degree at Farnham.

New greeting card designs are now live on my Etsy!!! 🙌🏼✨🥳

Now I’ve got myself a printer I’m able to add more listings to my Etsy shop without the pressure of having to get the stock in advance so I’m so happy to let my creativity run free and just get designs up as and when they come to me.

Trust the timing of your life 🙌🏼

Up there with the ‘everything happens for a reason’ mentally, I am starting to trust the timing in life and know that not everything can go according to a plan.

I think it’s really easy to get sucked into what we see online and expect that because everyone else is at a certain stage in their life/career then you should be too but it’s important to sit back and let life do what it needs to do to get you there ✌🏼

✨ COMING SOON ✨

I’ve recently decided to make a change to the way I do things on Etsy and have invested in a printer so I can make all my products as made to order rather than having to buy the stock in advance.

I don’t get many sales on my Etsy but I want to keep adding new designs and listings and push it more but I felt I couldn’t justify spending the money ordering stock ahead of time if it doesn’t sell. So I’m hoping this way will mean I can be super creative and make loads of new fun designs and not feel held back by anything.

Here’s one I did as a test print, and I’m so excited to gradually add more and more to my shop now! Watch this space 👀
