Independent magazines are having a hot moment. More than a moment - a new uprising. We spoke to The Beat founder and editor in chief Jed Novick for his take.

A well-produced magazine does far more than sit on coffee tables, or end its days curling up on a reception room desk.

It becomes something you can hand over in meetings, leave with prospects, share at open days, or use in showrooms and site visits. Even post out to a subscription list.

It’s different to a brochure, because it tells your story as well as showcasing your goods or services.

It gives people something real (and more interesting!) to hold onto - which in these times is outstanding and authentic as well as being proper classy. A chance to experience your brand, your story and your values beyond a quick pitch or presentation.

Particularly if your sales process is longer, or higher value, that physical connection can keep working long after the meeting ends.

You become memorable.

Eleven years ago, this is our little Title Media team, having a planning meeting in a coffee shop in Hove.

At this time we’d have been looking at the second or third issue of Title Sussex Magazine, a publication we’re still very proud of. The print issues were retired years ago but the magazine site is still going strong.

Title Media the business was formed in January of 2015 - and has seen a ton of changes, pivots, challenges and successes over those years.

Wow, time flies.
