I didn’t build my previous business so I could leave it for five years.

But because I’d spent years putting the right systems, processes and customer relationships in place, when I decided to go off and get a Viticulture & Oenology degree, I could.

And the business continued to pay me.

I think that experience probably explains quite a lot about the way I work with w**e producers now.

I’m interested in sales, obviously.

But I’m also interested in everything happening behind those sales that makes them easier - or considerably harder - to get.

I write about this sort of thing twice a week to my email list, with rather more room to get into the detail than I have here.

Turns out, the things that make me feel vaguely on top of things are mostly the things I do consistently.

Nothing particularly clever. Just systems that stop the important stuff relying on me remembering to do it.

And that thinking has a LOT to do with something new I’ve been working on for w**e producers, coming in November. 👀

Apparently September was mostly spent at my desk, occasionally looking up at exactly the right moment.

I could probably cobble together a monthly roundup, but honestly, my camera roll says this is what September looked like.

Lots of work. Lots of thinking. And some really bloody good sunsets.

I’ll tell you what all the work was about in November. 👀

Who bought? What did they buy? How much did they spend? And what could you do differently this year?

The answers are probably already sitting somewhere in your business. You just need to ask the right questions.

Marketing is just the vehicle you use to sell your w**e.

What you’re selling, why you’re selling it, whether it’s actually making you money and how it fits into the business you want to run - that’s the stuff we need to work out first.
