Can a character be the interface? 😬🤏🏻
As part of the latest Rive challenge, we dusted off one of our UI experiences that truly felt alive.
Meet Cheeky Chops, an interactive character designed to be grabbed, stretched, and distorted.
Instead of micro-interactions or basic loops, Cheeky Chops reacts directly to your input using fluid drag-and-drop mechanics and snapping physics. Starting from a simple touch interaction experiment, we took it one step further and played around with the concept of dragging bones rigged to live shapes, playing around with vertex weighting until it felt like you were pulling an elastic surface. A few sketches and masks within masks later, we had our brand new character!
Huge thanks to .app for pushing us to think outside the bounding box!
