Tools like Google Search Console and Ahrefs give us access to a huge pot of useful data.

During a recent audit, we found a number of keywords from these tools that the client was ranking for (albeit not great) but they didn't even have pages or categories for. They had the products but they were missing out on the opportunity to rank and sell them within these categories.

Digging into data can reveal some amazing quick wins.

Although Facebook and Instagram advertising can yield high returns, the success of your ads will depend less on stats and more on your targeting and ad creative. If your audience doesn’t respond to your ads, your CPC will be high (and your ROI low) regardless of the platform you are using.

One of the biggest advantages of using Amazon Ads is the goal of users navigating the website. Users searching Amazon are there to buy – their purchase intent is high. By targeting users in buying mode, the ads are much more likely to convert. In fact, the average conversion rate for advertisers on Amazon is 9.78%, compared with typical ecommerce conversion rates of 1.33%.

Amazon Ads have only been around since 2012, but they have quickly become a formidable advertising channel for ecommerce. Though Amazon’s ad revenue pales against that of Facebook and Google, it still snagged 4.1% of total US digital ad spending (data from 2018). And this percentage is predicted to continue growing. As of Q3 2018, Amazon showed a 123% increase in ad sales, hitting $2.5 billion for the quarter with 29% year on year revenue growth.

Is Amazon a good channel for ecommerce businesses? For one, they are the largest e-retailer in the US. In a recent study, 71% of participants who advertised on Amazon reported that they spent up to a quarter of their digital ad budget on the platform, and 80% of participants planned to increase Amazon advertising budgets, with nearly a quarter of them increasing budgets by 50% or more.

Links are still a huge ranking factor and that seems likely to continue for some time. Links are what makes the internet the internet, and they’re the best way for search engines to judge the popularity and authority of one article against another.

In 2014, former Google engineer Matt Cutts said that Google had experimented internally with a version of Google that didn’t use links and that ‘the quality looks much, much worse’. He also stated that links were ‘still a really really big win in terms of quality for search results’.

For the most part, this is still the case, although Google has become much better at ignoring links these days; some of your links that you think look OK may well be ignored by the big G.
