We are deeply saddened to learn the news of Beth Doherty’s passing.

At just 31, Beth had faced an incredibly difficult time following her diagnosis with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

Her family have spoken of the strength she showed throughout her treatment. Sadly, she passed away on 29 September following complications from her stem cell transplant.

We were very fortunate to work with Beth for a number of years, collaborating on a variety of major writing and website copy projects. She was a wonderful soul and such a joy to work with. Our time working with Beth was always filled with laughter, and we will remember those moments with enormous fondness.

Beth will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by us all at Halt. Our love and heartfelt condolences go to her family, her partner Alice, her friends and everyone who held her dear.

As a mark of respect, we will be pausing all social content for the coming weeks.

Beth’s family have set up a crowdfunding page to help towards the cost of her funeral and give her the farewell she deserves. If you are able to donate or share the page, your support would be warmly appreciated.

Happy 6th Anniversary Chris

Today we’re celebrating six years of our Founder and Managing Director Chris Cranshaw, who launched Halt from a spare bedroom during the pandemic and has been enthusiastically getting involved in everyone’s work ever since.

He’s still firmly involved in the detail, from brand workshops and website design to building marketing strategies and delivering content for our clients. Our efforts to persuade him to spend more time working on the business remain ongoing.

Outside work, you’ll usually find him on a golf course, adding to his trainer collection or picking up a musical instrument with a level of confidence even he suggests is ambitious.

Congratulations Chris and thank you for the opportunities and energy you’ve put into building Halt.

We’d get you a “six years of service” certificate, but we suspect you’d want to redesign it.

This week’s Grind to a Halt looks at Google’s new multimodal search reporting and what it could mean for recruitment websites, employer brands and visual content.

⚫ Google Search Console can now report when website content is discovered through visual searches.

⚪ This includes activity from Google Lens, Circle to Search, uploaded images and image searches within Chrome.

⚫ Recruitment imagery shared across websites, social media, events and reports could contribute to brand discovery.

⚪ Agencies can begin measuring which photographs, campaign graphics and visual assets generate search impressions and clicks.

A candidate could photograph a careers fair display, upload a screenshot of a vacancy graphic or use an image from social media to find the recruitment business behind it.

For recruitment marketers, this creates another connection between social content, employer branding, website visibility and search performance.

It also gives recruitment businesses a good reason to review image file names, alternative text, original photography and the written context surrounding visual content.

Santiago Partners x Halt.

How do you launch a new executive search brand with an identity of its own, while retaining the recognition of the business behind it?

Following our earlier work on the Gene East brand and website, their team returned to Halt to help launch Santiago Partners, a new executive search venture placing senior operational and interim leaders across payments, fintech and digital risk.

The brief was to take elements of the Gene East identity and evolve them for an executive and C suite audience, creating something more refined, considered and distinctive.

So, we got to work:

⚫ Evolving the Gene East identity for a senior executive search audience

⚪ Carrying the established arrow motif into the new Santiago Partners brand

⚫ Combining Gene East’s signature green with a more reserved charcoal and white palette

⚪ Creating a refined visual identity and supporting brand collateral

⚫ Designing and developing a bespoke website around Santiago’s three specialist markets
