After 6 exciting years Louis is stepping away from Bread & Butter Studio 🍞

Louis is incredibly proud of the partnership that he and Tom built together, helping shape it into the company you see today, and would like to thank everyone he has worked with over the years on so many fantastic projects πŸ™

He leaves Bread & Butter Studio in good hands, with Tom continuing to offer the same professional service for print, scan, post-production and archiving πŸ“š

Louis will now be focusing on his role at the Martin Parr Foundation and other projects πŸ”

Lovely to be engaged with Ashutosh / and his natal chart reimagined as a scroll over these past few weeks. There were several aspects we had to consider and plan for but We finally got together in the studio yesterday to create 3 beautiful 4.25m long pieces of work on paper which was challenging yet extremely rewarding!!

Also he became an Uncle at the time which made the connection even richer ❀️

Archival Solutions . . .Β 

A special client came to me with a very unique 1.76m long Chromogenic print to digitize, specially created by in 1979 as a customised piece for the Japanese National Railways. πŸš†

We shot this in the studio under lights as 8 separate digital captures and seamlessly stitched it together which resulted in a 333 x 12 cm 16 bit Tiff. I think you'll agree it's quite awesome and nearly as long as me!

The 489 series (489η³»), was a limited express electric multiple unit (EMU) train type introduced in March 1972 by Japanese National Railways (JNR) in Japan, and later operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and West Japan Railway Company (JR-West) until 2012.

The 489 series trains were developed from the earlier 485 series specially for use on the Hakusan and Asama limited express services operating over the steeply graded Usui Pass.

We're been theorising as to how this was created with various ideas coming up....anyone with any thoughts?

We were delighted to be asked by Tom Ham and Teenage Cancer Trust to help produce an edition of 100 A2 pigment prints for a campaign alongside the folks I D L E S to raise money for important research and care for those poor souls afflicted at such a young age.
