On international Women's Day I'd like to salute all of the amazing women who have supported me throughout my career in social media.

In the past I've worked for women and men, and also had the experience of working in a predominantly female editorial dept, but it wasn't until I branched out into social media marketing that I got to experience what women supporting women really means.

Being part of the social media and digital marketing community has been such an amazing experience. Women who really do support and cheer me on, celebrate the wins and support me when I need help.

So today I'd like to pay tribute to you all. Thank you all, it's much easier knowing I'm not doing this alone ☺️

The Action for Happiness calendar is my favourite monthly download. I love that the theme changes every month, and I print it out and display it next to my children's school timetables so that they see it every day. This month is all about being mindful, and I don't think it could have come at a more appropriate time!

How are we all doing? I was supposed to be driving up to North Wales to see the Welsh part of my family today so my plans are on hold until tomorrow now.

So I'm working instead, listening to the tunes of a dozen wheelie bins flapping in the wind, and drinking too much tea ☕ But very much looking forward to the new season of Space Force on Netflix later 🚀

This has got to be the best Canva news, just about ever - you can now create tables for your designs! So many possibilities to create even more useful templates in my fave app, with this fab new element. Thanks Canva! 🙌

I can see this being ideal for creating social media calendars, in fact calendars of all kinds! 🥰 What will you use the Canva 'Table' element for? 🤔

Why are you here? Is it just for the numbers or are you genuinely trying to engage with your audience?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a large number of followers doesn't equal automatic success on social media.

It's ok to be here to sell, in fact I would encourage it but don't get hung up on numbers because it is guaranteed to drive you crazy! Your follower numbers will go up and down, and it can take time to build a following on social media.

Instead focus on building your community, because a few hundred engaged followers is far better than several thousand that don't bother to like or comment on your posts!

The next time you're feeling low about your follower number imagine they are all in one room with you. What would you do with that many people if you had their full attention? Hold that thought and then use this to speak to them on social media.

I've been attending Canva Create today, an online creative conference organised by Canva. As well as learning a lot more about the story of how the company was founded by Aussie entrepreneur, Melanie Perkins, I was also present for the announcement of Canva Sites, which is currently in Beta.

This will allow you to create a one page website in Canva itself and publish to the web via Canva or to your own domain. I've signed up to be an early user of it so I'll let you know how I get on when I've been allowed access to it, and had a chance to play around.

I think this could be a real game-changer for small businesses starting out who need a website but might not have the budget to pay for a bespoke website, and my understanding so far is that it would be similar to using a web service like Wix or Weebly but with the awesome design template options available in Canva which are very easy to use.

If you want to spread a little kindness on social media today. Take a moment to appreciate and support a small business, and if they are local to you then even better!

Here's how you can do that:

➡ Respond to a Story

It's small things like this that make a big difference to small businesses online, and in the crowded world of social media it means a lot when you make an effort to engage.

A bit of Friday Fun because I narrowly missed being in a car crash today and frankly I need cheering up!

So, it's the age old argument in our house, which milkshake flavour is the best? It's strawberry all the way for me and has been ever since I was a child, and while I love a proper milkshake from a cafe or diner, I still find it hard to resist one from McD's if I'm honest 😬

Which camp are you in?
